Cœur de Pirate- Wood & Wires Session from Adrian Vieni (Wood & Wires) on Vimeo.
A couple of months ago, I discovered a Quebec singer by the name of Coeur de Pirate. At that time, very few people had her of the singer, and since then, it seems like her profile seems to be on the rise. This is fantastic news because ever since hearing her play at the Calgary Folk Music Festival she has been on my iPod’s heavy rotation.
Think Adele, but french.
The 22 year old singer literally has one of the most beautiful voices that I’ve ever heard and even though I understand about half of what she is singing, it doesn’t even matter. To me, it is perfection. If I had a show about emotional doctors or trouble lawyers, I’d use Coeur de Pirate’s songs in almost every montage that I could.
Seeing as how she’s french, her touring schedule seems to be limited to the Quebec area and Europe, but if you the chance to see her live, you must. And when you do, remember just how jealous I am.
She’ll hit a few Canadian spots next week, so here are the dates:
November 8th: @ Montréal, Québec Théâtre Rialto.
November 9th: @ Québec, Québec, Théâtre Petit Champlain.
November 11th: @ Toronto, Ontario, Mod Club.
Coeur de Pirate‘s new album also comes out November 7th too, do yourself a favour and pick it up.
You’re welcome.
