Remember when you used to spend hours wandering the aisles of Blockbuster only to rent the same movie you rent every year (Love, Actually.) Well, those days are gone. That’s why TELUS Optik TV™ has the largest On Demand library. They believe that everyone should have the power to be picky when it comes to entertainment. Not only are there many choices, there are many excellent choices – you’ll have a hard time choosing just one. So don’t! Here are some of my favourite movies to binge-watch!
The American Pie Series
(American Pie, American Pie 2, American Wedding, American Reunion)
Each of these movies marks a moment in my adolescence, and I’m sure they do yours. The first movie taught us about “the benefits of apple pieâ€, the second one taught us to stay away from super glue, the third taught to “maintain with caution†and the forth one taught us that no matter what, we should stick with the ones that love us. Watching these movies back to back is sort of like going through an old yearbook, you’ll regret how quickly the time went, but you’ll love the memories.
The Back to the Future series
Every night I lie awake terrified that Hollywood is going to remake what might be the best trilogy of all time. All three Back to the Future movies are perfect films on their own, but in a set, there is likely nothing better. And yes, I’m well aware of the Star Trek trilogy, but to be honest, it doesn’t hold up as well. Sure Back to the Future has basically caught up with where we are in real time and we still don’t have hover boards, but the adventure of the movies and the mystery of the future is something that lasts forever!
The Bring It On Series
Bring It On, Bring It On Again, Bring It On: Fight to the Finish
Most people just stop at the first Bring It On, but if you have the time and feel like watching some purely silly movies, then definitely check out the Bring it On franchise, because if you liked the first one, the rest are pretty much the same, which is totally okay! They’re meant to be fun, flashy, super silly, but they’re also packed with amazing routines and few hearty belly laughs. This is a great series to watch…even if you don’t want to admit it.
Father of the Bride 1 and 2
Why does no one remember how fantastically funny these two movies were? Retrospectively, it’s strange that this movie got a sequel, but Steve Martin movies often got mysterious sequels, so I’m okay with it. While it would be a relatively short binge-watching session, both of these movies are great films to watch with the parents, especially if you’re planning on getting hitched in the next few years. Also, can we all agree that the world would be better off with more Martin Short.
The Harry Potter franchise
Here’s what I find interesting about the Harry Potter franchise, how did the casting directors know all those years ago that they would actually want to make eight movies with those kids. And that’s exactly what they were, kids. Go back and watch the first Harry Potter movie and you’ll be baffled at just how well cast the movies are, especially as the actors both grow into their bodies and roles. Most sequels suck, so the fact that the franchise was able to make seven of them, all seemingly better than the one before them is just amazing. Watching these movies back-to-back lets you just see how magical this whole franchise really is.
