Today was a big day for the Calgary Zoo!
Five months after the 2013 flood essentially put much of the zoo underwater, they fully reopened today! And if the throngs of people who showed up to help celebrate the reopening was any indication, Calgarians really missed their furry/fluffy/sticky friends.
I’m not sure if it was the warm weather or if the animals really did miss having so many people around, but so many of them were active like I had never seen before. Of course, the zoo likely still has a long way to go, earlier this year it was estimated that the cost of repairs and lost revenue would top $50 million.
But today is the first day of the new Calgary Zoo, and that’s just one of the many reasons why it’s time to visit these fantastic friends from near and far.
