Unique Date Night (or Date Day!) Volunteer Opportunities in Calgary!

Unique Date Night (or Date Day!) Volunteer Opportunities in Calgary!

Nov 21, 2017

For the next couple of weeks, I’ll be partnering with Propellus Calgary to share some great volunteer opportunities.  In my experience, people want to volunteer, but they don’t really know where to start, or they think it might be too big (or too little) of a commitment.  Propellus supports non-profit organizations throughout the city and helps connect them with Calgarians.

This week, we’re going to be highlighting great opportunities for couples looking to do something a little different on date night!  Here are some suggestions, but if you’d like to see what other opportunities are out there, there’s always a ton of great listings on Propellus’ website.

Big Couple – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area are now looking for Big Couples to be matched with children ages 6 to 18 years of age. Spend quality time with your Little Sister or Brother in the community doing fun activities of their choice for two to five hours a week.

Social Visitors: Father Lacombe Care Centre are looking for volunteers to chat with their residents. Help provide a senior with a one-to-one social interaction and brighten their day.

Entertainers: Do you and your partner play music? Take your jam sessions to Extendicare and provide seniors and elders with some musical entertainment!

Gift Shoppers: Closer to Home are looking for volunteers to handle the shopping for gifts for low-income families in their Adopt-a-Family Initiative.

Vegas Baby! One of the most appreciated way that you can give back to almost ANY non-profit is to volunteer a shift for their casino. You can volunteer with a partner for similar shifts, get a great meal and know that you’re part of a team that will be bringing thousands of dollars in for that non-profit.
