Stats Canada says Vancouver is Canada’s unhappiest city!
Apr 20, 2015
I was reading VanCity buzz this morning and they posted a story about a new Stats Canada report about city satisfaction and to my surprise, the report shows that Vancouver is Canada’s unhappiest city! I actually found that surprising considering it has the beaches, bike lanes, mountains and city infrastructure…oh wait, that’s cause no one can afford to live there. I’m kidding, sorta. Seriously, while Vancouver is absolutely great, what good is it if you have to live so far away that you can’t enjoy any of it. And I’m sure the rain has something to do with it, although I’ve always said on a sunny day, there’s no prettier city in Canada.
Stats Canada asked Canadians, a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 means “Very dissatisfied” and 10 means “Very satisfied”, how do you feel about your life as a whole right now?
Vancouver sits on the bottom of the list with 7.8 and Saguenay, Quebec is the happiest at 8.25.
I posted the whole chat at the bottom. While it sucks that Vancouverites aren’t technically the happiest Canadians, I don’t know, I think 7.8 is actually not that bad. I mean, how many people around the world can they are 78% happy with the place they live?
So what were the other unhappiest cities in Canada?
And the happiest cities?
Trois Rivieres, PQ
So what about where I live? Well, Calgary fell right in the middle of the list, at either the 17th happiest city in Canada, or the 18th least happiest city in Canada.
Where did your city fall on the list?
