Call the doctor, I have the Juno Effect

>
Canada is in the gripes of the Juno effect!

Luckily for us, that doesn’t mean that tweens all over the country are  getting knocked up by Zac Efron lookalikes and talking in annoyingly pop-culturey sentences.
No, the so-called Juno effect is the sales bump that many Juno winners experience after winning the “Canadian Grammy”.  Not be confused with the Canadian Granny, which is completely different and far harder to win.
According to Nielsen Soundscan, many Canadian artists saw huge jumps in their sales after hanging out with me in Vancouver for Juno weekend.  Are they related?  Probably not.
Album sales:
  • Divine Brown (+16%)
  • Nickelback (+33%)
  • Same Roberts (+88%)
  • Serena “i like your shirt” Ryder (+18%)
  • The Stills (+126%!!!!!!)
Digital Track Sales
  • City And Colour – “Sleeping Sickness” +230%
  • Divine Brown – “Sunglasses” +75%
  • Nickelback – “Something In Your Mouth” +99%
  • Sam Roberts – “Them Kids” +236%
  • Serena Ryder – “Little Bit Of Red”  +62%
  • Simple Plan “Your Love Is A Lie” +59%
  •  The Stills – “Being Here” +189%
I’ve bolded those that make my life better. You should do the same.  Random fact: Do you know that it is proven that you feel much better about your self after paying for Canadian music?  You hear that masochits?
Oh and Dallas, I know I promised you we’d hang out, because we are besties, but I didn’t realize you were coming to Calgary so soon and now you are sold out.  NO! I didn’t say you sold out, I said your show did.  You’ll have to find some other audience member to sing horribly out of tune with you.

Happy 2nd Blogaversary!

Holy Crap, I can’t believe I almost missed the big day today!

Today marks the 2nd Anniversary of Mike’s Bloggity Blog (née Mike’s Bloggity Blog Blob)! Or would be a birthday? Either way, I am registered at every store in your local mall. Ask about me, they’ll know. Size small, always size small.

But seriously folks, Wow, I can’t believe it has been only two years since this thing took over my life, the same way that Jennifer Aniston’s hair took over the 90′s. Or the way that Spencer and Heidi have ruined television or that Nickelback…..ah never mind. I’m not going to let them ruin such a special day! Let’s reminence shall we? First post!

Has it really only been two years? Nuts! The last 12 months have truly been amazing I’ve gotten to go to Vegas with 40 women for 24 hours, I got to be special guest at the CBC Pancake Breakfast, I’ve continued to doing pieces with Calgary’s Energy 101.5 and The Calgary Herald. I now have blogs featured regularly on The National Post. Not to mention, I had amazing time backstage at the Junos and I’ve gotten to meet some really cool people (why don’t you return my calls Brody Jenner? Why? Oh don’t think I can’t call my security of you too Gene Simmons! Can we hug it out Feist?)

In the next couple of months things are going to be getting bigger and better for Mike’s Bloggity Blog! I’ve gotten the opportunity to write my first cover story which will be appearing in Opulence Magazine next month, I’ve also been talking to the producers about going back to Breakfast Television and while I don’t want to count my eggs before they hatch, I’m hoping to get on one of Canada’s biggest shows before the end of year! Ideas? Guesses? Sadly it isn’t Bumper Stumpers.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you all for you support and amazing messages over the past two years. Especially for all the spelling and grammar corrections! I’m still trying to figure out what a blog is and what it means to have one, but if anything it has allowed me to stay in touch and meet so many great people and write about stuff that I truly love.

Plus I’m poor and writing for blogs is free :0)

Thank you all again so much.
