Well, it’s official! After months of specutation, the CBC has finally announced who will be the new host of Q.  (We all remember what happened to he who should not be named, right?)

And the new host is…..

Shad!

If you don’t know who Shad is, well you’re about to.

1. Shad is a Canadian hiphop artist and has released four full length albums!

2. He’s a Juno Award winner and has been nominated three times for the Polaris Music Prize. At the Junos, he once beat out Drake for Recording of the Year.

3. He hosted/auditioned for the show back in January and his guests included Art Spiegelman, opera star Christine Goerke, filmmaker and author Miranda July, actress Evangeline Lilly and Norm Macdonald, who also wanted the job.

4. He was born in Kenya, but grew up in London, Ontario. He has a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and then went to Simon Fraser University where he received a master’s degree in liberal studies.

5. His dream interviews are Kanye and President Obama.

So what do you think of the choice? Happy? Sad? Indifferent? If you’re indifferent about it, it’d be weird that you were reading this story, but anyway, congrats Shad!
