I still remember the first time I heard of Dan Mangan. He was a guest on CBC’s Q and he played “Baskets”, an amazing song about getting older and I was an instant fan. Since that time, I’ve seen him countless times in concerts and his poster is my apartment’s sole poster.
But it’s been a while since we’ve had some new music from Dan Mangan. Two years in fact. But that dark time is behind us and now he’s back and he’s brought a new moniker when him. Today Dan Mangan + Blacksmith officially emerged with a new single “Vessel”.
Have a listen and just realize how happy you are listening to it. And then listen to it over and over again. At least that’s what I’m going to be doing.
Fans of Simon Pegg (AND WHO THE HELL IS NOT A FAN OF SIMON PEGG) will be amused to know that “Vessel” will not only be featured in Pegg’s new movie ‘Hector And The Search For Happiness’, Mangan also composed the movie’s score with Jesse Zubot.
‘Hector And The Search For Happiness’ premieres at TIFF Sept 7, and hits North American theatres Sept 19.
Dan Mangan + Blacksmith’s new album will be out this fall. DIBS!
