Contest: Win a pair of tickets to Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella!

Mar 09, 2017

Broadway Across Canada is about to grace Calgary with yet another Tony® Award-winning Broadway musical!  And if the shoe fits, you’ll be walking away with a pair of tickets.

Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella comes to the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium for a limited engagement from April 25 – 30, 2017.

The magical show is a fresh new take on the beloved tale of a young woman who is transformed from a chambermaid into a princess. It features the story’s classic elements – glass slippers, pumpkin, and a beautiful ball along with some surprising twists. More than just a pretty face with the right shoe size, this Cinderella is a contemporary figure living in a fairytale setting. She is a spirited young woman with savvy and soul who doesn’t let her rags or her gowns trip her up in her quest for kindness, compassion and forgiveness. She longs to escape the drudgery of her work at home and instead work to make the world a better place. She not only fights for her own dreams, but forces the prince to open his eyes to the world around him and realize his dreams too.

Tickets are on sale now. through www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling 1-855-985-5000. Performances run Tuesday through Sunday evenings 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. matinees. Tickets start at $30.

I forgot my scarf in the car once, and while I was in the ladies room, he went back on his own to look for it. Had it in his hands for me as soon as I came out. It’s the simple, little, mundane things like that which mean the most!

After 24 years, I realized I had kissed a toad, not a frog, and no prince appeared. Still friendly terms and all those great civil gestures between us. I do firmly believe that some day my prince will come and kissing the frog will be worth it. That day will be glass slipper worthy…

Over the past 6 years I have done the Alberta Ride to Conquer Cancer. My husband of 31 years has been my 1 man road crew & emergency tech on all my training rides. He has left work several times to help this damsel in distress with flat tires & bike repairs along various highways. He has rescued me from a horrendous thunderstorm or 3! He has outfitted my bike with the best of lights to make me more visible on our roadways. I think behind every cycling ‘not so princess’ there is a Prince Charming helps no to keep her safe.

My daughter turns five next week. I’ve been a stay at home dad for about a year now. Every day she changes into at least one princess dress, on her own without prompting, then goes about her business. I want to buy two tickets for her bday gift, but winning them would be way awesomer.

Before we were living together, I got kicked down with a bout of Norwalk. He gave me a get well kit which included foods that were kind to the tummy, drinks to replenish electrolytes, entertaining distractions to help pass the time and a sweet card.
