Funky Friday 7

>Can you believe this is Funky Friday again already?!!  This week has gone by sooooo fast!  It’s amazing.  God I love the summer months. Especially long weekend ones.  Okay so this weekend isn’t technically a long weekend (Canada Day falls on Tuesday this year) but most offices are closed (including mine) which means an amazing 4-day weekend!!!  And if you are unlucky enough to not have Monday off well tell you boss that Mike from Mike’s Bloggity Blog Blob said that he/she needs to chill out, listen to this week’s Funky Friday and give you the day off!*

I have a whole list of great songs lined up for the entire month of July, but if you think of one make sure you send it my way!
I hope you all have an amazing weekend.  Be safe and have fun!  Please, please, please do not drink and drive.  There are always cabs or sober friends out there!!!!
By now you know the drill.  Turn up the speakers, open a window, get up off your chair and dance like you are dancing for your life on SYTYCD!
Happy Weekend!

The Thursday TIme Crunch

>Now that Idol is done Fox is rolling out it’s summer reality powerhouse So You Think You Can Dance (or SYTYCD to Taylor)!  The season premiere is a dance packed 2 hours which, when you take into account Thursdays normally busy schedule, means it might cause some headaches.

But there are a couple of things to take note off
-Lost is taking the night off for preparation of next weeks 2 hour season finale
-The Office, 30 Rock, CZzzzI and ER are all dunzo for the season
Which only leaves Grey’s Anatomy and it’s very own 2hr finale on Thursday night.  But fret not if you live in Canada, CTV is going to take care of you.  Grey’s will be starting at a very early 7pm and then it will be followed at 9pm by the SYTYCD premiere.  While I realize that it might feel weird to watch 4 straight hours of television, I think it is a worthy sacrifice for such great television.
yeah that is right SYTYCD is great television.  After several discussions with several friends this week I have no problem saying that FOX’s dance show is the most entertaining of the reality competition shows out there.  Initially I wasn’t a fan but you try having two separate dancer roommates (no not strippers) and see how long you last.  But now I have no problem admitting that I have already Season Passed the show for the entire summer season.
The reason why it is so much better than anything out there is that because for one you have to be talented.  Sob stories, funny talents or a so-so personality won’t make the cut.  The show is based purely on the aspiring dancers talent which makes this show often dazzling and inspirational to watch.  The other great thing is that the judges decide who is eliminated.  America chooses only the bottom three. This way we are leaving it up to the professionals which is why they are judges in the first place right.
So while everyone else is outside enjoying the sun and human contact I will be exactly where I want to me.  On my couch criticizing people who are doing something with their lives. (I wonder if I can apply for The Biggest Loser if I weigh 130pds?)

The Best Kind of Friday!

>Finally it’s friday! And is it me or is the best kind of a Friday! I think we all could use this long weekend. We got to get out our BBQs, get our tan on, drink some Corona and of course catch up on my Tivo. (I’m talking to you 5 Episodes of Nip/Tuck)

So to celebrate the weekend I thought I would bring out an oldie but a goldie of a song. I truly think it is impossible to listen to this song and not do a little bit of dance. Whether it be in your seat at the office or a full out SYTYCD audition in your living room. Turn it up. Don’t be embarrassed! It’s FRIDAY!!!!!

Cry Baby

>Today was a great day. I mean besides the massive amounts of flooding going on in Calgary right now. To give you an idea how chaotic this city was: I drive 7.5Kms to work. It usually takes me 10-12 minutes. Today it took me 45 minutes. In the terrential rain. Ahh well, it gave me time to talk to my mom on the phone and rock out to the new Maroon 5 CD! (thanks for the photo Megs)

Annnyyywwaayyy, like I was saying, besides that it was a good day. After work I bought my very first bed frame! As of tomorrow night, For the first time since 2004, I will not be sleeping on the floor! I was just too tired to set it up tonight, but this is really a big thing for me. I don’t know why exactly, I just find it a very grown up thing to have. A bed frame. Oh lalala.

So after getting home from my purchase I turned on the TV and decided that I should put away the three weeks of clean laundry that had accumulated on my floor. I was in a particularly happy mood because I still hadn’t watched the season finale of Brothers & Sisters and thought this would be a good time to do so. My good mood quickly disappeared.

Remember when Extreme Makeover: Home Edition came on and we would cry at the beginning and end of every episode. I quickly got over that until Grey’s Anatomy had to come along. Man, that show made me cry like no one’s business. But then my water works began to dry up only long enough for Brothers & Sisters to roll it’s way onto my TIVO suggestions list. (For those who don’t have TIVO, I’m convinced there is a little person in there, it knows everything! It is smarter then have the kids I taught during my Education degree!)

The season finale of Brothers and Sisters left me hard core sobbing, I’m talking Buffy leaving Sunnydale in Season 2 sobbing. It wasn’t pretty. Once that was done I thought I would turn on a little So You Think You Can Dance. Now I blame the previous crying fit and because I’m a sucker for dreams coming true and being crushed, but I’ll be damned, that show got me crying too. I don’t know what’s wrong with me today, but it got even worse when I made the mistake of clicking over to American Inventor. I hate this show, actually I hate most of ABC’s summer line up, but I happened to click over just long enough to see a little 8 year old red headed boy get his dreams crushed. Harsh. I’m glad I was alone in my room, cause it was not pretty. Not pretty at all. My roommate would have punched me in the jaw and that girl can punch. Let me tell you.

Side thought: This is such a manly post. I don’t even know how to spell manly right, do I?

BONUS: For those of you who watched SYTYCD, please find below my favorite song from the show. I guarantee it will be on Grey‘s in no time.

Canada’s Next Top Model

Tonight marked the 2nd season premiere of Canada’s Next Top Model. Before I get into it, am I the only one who still chuckles every time they hear the title of the show? I don’t know I just find it very ironic, or is it an oxy-moron? Either way, we Canadian are lucky because then those silly ANTMers because we get Jay full time as his the host this year kicking last years host, Trisha Helfer, to the curb.

Now don’t me wrong, Jay makes for a good host, but you have to admit you were a little disturbed at how much he talked like Tyra. Seriously it was creepy.

I would also like to thank Canada’s Next Top Model by introducing bulimia and anorexia to thousands of Canadian girls by telling Jaqueline that she was a little too big for the competition, correction that she needed to tone down. Tooth Bleaching doctors every where thank you.

To Mika, the first to go home, I hate you. More specifically people like you. Why try out for a reality show if you don’t even want to be on it. As a guy who tries out for every show that you can imagine, I hate to think that someone is there and couldn’t care less. I’m glad your gone home, your daddy needs to have a chat with you.

So you think you can dance?

If you think I like TV, you should see my roommate tonight! Her two favorite shows are on the same night! I’m just happy to have someone to share the couch with!

SYTYCD is what I call guilt free television. You can watch it and just enjoy! I mean seriously if you’re a fan of dancing or not, who doesn’t like watching people dance around just a little bit!

And I defy anyone that can find anything funnier than the dancer that couldn’t stop hiccupping! Seriously, it was too funny! So was the Golden Inferno, but for different reasons.

My only request, Cat Deeley, will you please be my best friend?
