Canada safest driver!

>
Everyone knows that my only ambition in life is to be the most famous person from my hometown of Fredericton, NB.

I already have to contend with Anna Silk, Tony LePage, Measha Brueggergosman, Catherine Karnes Munn, Kel from Survivor: Australia and baseball player Matt Stairs.
As if that wasn’t enough competition, I now have to deal with someone named Stewart Finnamore. Who is Stewart Finnamore you ask? He was just named the 2009 National Driver of the Year by the Canadian Trucking Alliance and Volvo Trucks Canada.
How the balls am I supposed to compete with that!? Seriously.
Apparently he receives the award as the safest truck driver in Canada, after logging more than six million collision-free kilometres over the past 40 years.
I think my record is 1200 kms.
Congrats Finnamore, I’ve always like a challenge.

Gemini Awards are announced!

>

Finally a reason to watch the Geminis!

The nominees for the 24th annual awards that celebrate the best in Canadian Television were just announced and some pretty big shows racked up the nominations!
CTV’s Flashpoint is on top with a record 19 nominations. The Tudors (which isn’t canadian is it?) follows up with second place and 11 nominations. My favorite Being Erica picked up 9 nominations and so did Diamonds (CBC), Less Than Kind (City TV) and The Border (Global). Click here to see all the nominees.
I must give a special shout out to fellow Frederictonian Anna Silk! She is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Guest Role, Dramatic Series for her turn as Erica’s lesbian childhood friend on Being Erica. Like you could forget that episode.
The awards will be handed out right here in Calgary on November 14th! I’m shockingly alarmed by how excited I am for the Geminis this year. It’s like me saying I like CSI; it just seems so foreign to me!

Watch out for Peter!

>
I have to give a big congrats out to Peter Chao!!!

He had the most viewed video on Youtube yesterday and his has been kicking serious video ass lately. His video’s regularly pass the 250,000 view mark and if you haven’t seen them, they are hilarious.
Of course by hilarious, I mean wildly offensive, sexist and demeaning to almost every person. Like I said, hilarious.
I actually grew up with Chao in Fredericton and now he is making it big in Vancouver. So much so that it’s no longer weird when he gets stopped on the street.
Congrats to and make sure you check out his videos….and then go to church.

Famous Mom?

>
Why does my mom have to be such a thunder stealer?

This is a picture of my parent’s and my doggy moose in Fredericton.  Mom’s garden is the talk of the town and she is currently competing with me to who can get the most attention.
You are going down mom.
Here’s the story.

Soon McLobster, Soon.

>
In less than 24 hours I will be back in my home town of Fredericton, New Brunswick for my annual summer holiday. It will be great to visit with friends and family. I’ll be in Fredericton , Saint John, Charlottetown, Halifax and Inverness, Cape Breton.

Come to think of it, it doesn’t sound like much of a vacation.
But it will be great no matter because tomorrow I will have first of many McLobsters.
Yes, they really do exist in the maritimes and they are AMAZING.
Check out the commercial below.

Maritimes here I come!

Measha's close call!

>
Opera Singer (and fellow Frederictonian) Measha Brueggergosman had open heart surgery last week to repair a torn aorta!

Wow! That’s pretty scary.
Apparently the international opera star, who has also appeared on CRIBS and Project Runway Canada, is now in good health and will be back in Fredericton in July to recover with her family.
I will also be home in July for two weeks, so look out Fredericton!

Sing in your way into Calgary Stampede

>Are you the next Taylor Swift?

Want to be known at this year’s Calgary Stampede for different reasons than throwing up on a child and trying to ride a bull?

Why not try to become the star of the Calgary Stampede? Nashville North Star!

(maritimers will appreciated the name of the contest is the same name as a certain bar in Fredericton)
If you think you can sing your country heart out, then you can submit a video on Youtube.  It has to be of you singing your favorite country song, whether it’s a cappella, with a guitar or even with a band.  May I suggest: Did I Shave My Legs For This?

Country 105 will select the top 10 videos submitted to YouTube and invite the performers down to Nashville North to sing one song during Stampede.  Then six are chosen for the final round.

The winner gets $1,000 cash along with two Platinum Rodeo Tickets for the Calgary Stampede Rodeo Finals, plus a $200 gift certificate to Lammles.  There is however no prize for crazy stage moms, so move along mom.

Anyone wishing to enter can visit Country 105‘s website to learn how to submit their video for the contest. Deadline to submit is June 26.

And remember, if you win, just be sure not to Mindy McCready yourself.  Keep it sane people, keep it sane.
