When Conan O’Brien announced that his new show would be on TBS, you could almost hear the collective sigh of Canadians all across the country, who are stuck with the always dreadful Peachtree TV.
Well good news Canada, according to the always reliable TVFMF, CTV has acquired the rights for Conan’s new show! They have not, however, announced when or where the show will be showing up on it’s schedule. CTV’s late night schedule (National News, Daily Show, Colbert) is pretty tight, so I don’t think they’ll mess with that. It could show up on the Comedy Network, but I think Conan is deserving of a bigger audience. Most likely, O’Brien will land on the /A\ channel, which in recent years has become a dumping ground for all things CTV and it’s crowded schedule (see: LOST).
No matter where Conan ends up, we can all start sleeping again at night, Conan will have a home in Canada and that is all that matters. (Somewhere in Canada, there is a very jealous Mike Bullard.)
Now seriously, how the hell do we get rid of Peachtree TV!

By now you’ve heard that Conan O’Brien is coming back to television. In a completely strange move, he’s decided that this fall, TBS will be home to his new show.
I guess this would be completely fine if most of Canada wasn’t stuck with the horrific TBS-replacement PeachTree TV.
Yeah, that’s right. If you have TBS you should consider yourself lucky. The rest of us are stuck with a Dawson Creek-less, My Boys-no zone that is filled with Seinfeld re-runs and repeated airings of The Pelican Brief. Worse yet, there is hardly a Saved By The Bell episode to be found.
I’m hoping that the high profile pick-up of Conan will be enough to convince PeachTree TV to do the right thing. Then again, I said the same thing about Global and picking up Chelsea Lately and The Soup.
Folks, this maybe another dark day for comedy.

Remember a couple of months ago when you were al overl “Team CoCo!” You joined Facebook groups, your twittered up a storm and some of you even walked down your city streets naked. I’m not sure what the last one had to do with Conan O’Brien, you were naked, so I left it alone.
Well for all you Conan supporters, it is time to pay up!
O’Brien just announced that he’ll be touring North America and will be making a total of three Canadian stops:
- Vancouver, BC on April 13th.
- Encoch, Alberta on April 17th (uh…WHERE?!?)
- Toronto on May 22nd!
Tickets range from $97.50 to $137.50. So if you really love Conan, then it looks like you are going to have to financially prove it.
I really want to go to the Alberta show, but it is the same weekend as the Junos! Are you freaking kidding me? It’s like Sophie’s Choice, but harder!
