>Speaking of Andrea Zuckerman….
What the hell happened to Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez on the new 90210?
They bring her in for one quick cameo and that’s it?
Maybe she is off studying with Navid who has also seems to have disapeared into study hall only to never return! Surely there has to be some uninteresting characters they can get rid of? ***cough*** annie***cough***
>90210 was just renewed a full season and while I still have some problems with the show, it is still miles ahead of where the original one was five episodes into it’s first season.
But I can’t help notice that something is a little off.
Am I the only that has notice that Dixon’s new best friend Navid Shirazi played by Michael Steger has been missing since the first episode? Stranger yet is that he is in the credits, yet it is Adrianna who had this week’s entire episode pretty much dedicated to her character and yet she isn’t in any of the show’s promo ads.
I was really happy that 90210 decided to include another ethnic character, too bad they don’t know what to do with him.
On a side note Michael Steger is 28 years old! Looks like someone has a case of the Zuckermans!

I need to get something off my chest.
So we’ve seen three episodes of the new show 90210 and people hate it. Actually, people hate it and say it pales in comparison to the orignal, including Energy 101.5′s Meg Tucker who thinks it will be canceled in six weeks.
However, I would politely disagree, especially with the comparison comment. Can we call take moment to reflect on the original Beverly Hills 90210? It sucked, it sucked a lot. It sucked so much that Melrose Place spun-off of it! And you know what sucked slightly more than 90210? Melrose Place. The only reason we think that the original was good is because it was such a culturally important part of our child/adult hood (depending on your parent’s morals). But at the end of the day, 90210 always sucked.
I mean honestly, Shannon Doherty, Jason Priestly, Jenny Garth, Luke Perry and the rest of the gang were the epitome of god-awful actors. They make Jessica Simpson seem like Jessica Tandy. But this was over 10 years ago, so it’s okay if you forget, but I challenge you to make it through an old episode that is currently repeating on TVtropolis. You can’t, you won’t, you shouldn’t. The script was awful, the stories were recycled and even when they tried to do shows on important “issues”, the characters had quickly moved on from their life lessons the very next episode. And when ever you feel like talking about the huge hole in Tori Spelling’s chest cavity, I’ve got some theories.
The new 90210 isn’t an amazing show. It’s no Lost or Brothers & Sisters, it’s not even a Gossip Girl. But it’s a show about rich teenagers in Beverly Hills, what are you expecting people? It’s an okay show, there are some funny moments and some interesting characters. But come on people give it a break and enjoy the ride. Plus if anything else, it’s only a matter of time and Andrea Zuckerman returns to a crowd of people who struggled to remember that she was even on the air.
Hours before the new series 90210 debut, I got nervous. Maybe it was the 12 hours of the old show that I watched yesterday, but I was worried about the hype.
But if you asked me, I think it lived up to the hype fore than most people will have expected. I loved all the shout-outs to the old show!
-Brandon is in Belize!
-Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez is at West Beverly and “looks thirty years old” (like mother, daughter).
-Silver isn’t David’s daughter but is instead Kelli’s much younger sister!
-The Peach Pit is now The Pit and is still run by Nate!
-Brenda is back and is….nice but with bad teeth.
-Kelli has a son! I wonder who the baby daddy on the other side of the phone was? Brandon? Dylan? Nate?
As for the new cast, I thought Shanae Grimes did a great job as Annie, the new girl at West Beverly. In the two hour pilot she was already way more interesting then she ever was as Darcy on Degrassi: TGN. It’s probably thanks to the fact that she has wicked cool parents and one hell of a drunken grandmother.
So what did you think? I thought it was a great guilty pleasure and different enough from Gossip Girl that I won’t feel like I am watching the same show twice. It’s already season passed on my Tivo. Will you be watching again?
And if I haven’t convinced you that Entertainment Weekly is amazing, I present the following:
It’s been a long dull summer. Full of stupid shows like Nashville Star, that Dog show on CBS and America’s Got Talent. There was also the disappointment that was The Mole 3 that suffered from horrendous casting and the most obvious mole since Cindy Crawford’s!
But we can put that behind us now. The Fall TV season is finally upon us and with the writer’s strike yet a distant memory I can now look forward to doing what I do best, choosing my fake TV friends over my real ones. If you think about, my friends are the only ones that benefited from the strike that crippled the industry.
The CW is the first of the gate with all of it’s new shows and the rest of the networks following suit a couple of weeks from now. Today, we welcome back the return of Gossip Girl. And judging from the preview it’s definitely been a hot summer for our favorite NYC gang. Unfortunately One Tree Hill also returns tonight. Apparently we are supposed to care who Lucas picks. I just want to know who picks this soul-sucking show over shooting themselves in the face, because I would much rather do that.
Tuesday welcomes the premiere of a little show called 90210. I’m sure you’ve heard of it by now, it’s been talked about everywhere since it was announced a couple of months ago. If the pope got cable, I’m pretty sure he would be talking about it by now! While I don’t think this show is actually going to be any good, I am excited to hear about what Brenda and Kelly have been up to. And while Dylan, Steve, Brendan, David and Donna have all been holdouts, it is obviously only a matter of time. Meanwhile Andrea Zuckerman waits by her phone patiently. TVTropolis will be airing a 90210 marathon all day today if you want to catch up on your favorites! I am tivoing “Let Donna Graduate” and Brendan’s last episode.
Then on Wednesday we have the return of the increasingly useless America’s Next Top Model. Aside from appearing on the proceeding season, I don’t think I have ever seen a winner do any notable work. Curiouser Canada’s Next Top Model also returns this fall for it’s third cycle. Of course, Tyra is doing her best to seem forward-thinking by including for the first time ever a tranny model in the running. Hot mess indeed!
Later on I’ll be doing up a list of the all the shows, I’ll be watching and when they are coming back. If you don’t see your show there, then you shouldn’t be watching it!
