5 questions about the Price is Right Live: ANSWERED.

5 questions about the Price is Right Live: ANSWERED.

Dec 18, 2012

This week, The Price is Right Live announced that they’ll be bringing their stage show across the western half of Canada for a series of shows that will no doubt have long time fans lined up to play their favourite games.

But what the heck is The Price is Right Live, here’s some answers to your burning questions.

Will Drew Carey be there?
No, but Mark Walberg will be. No, not that Mark Wahlberg, Mark Walberg, the guy who hosts Antique Roadshow.

Can I win a car?
Hmmm…maybe a Kia. But I wouldn’t expect a corvette or anything like that. The reason the actual show gets such great prizes is because of advertising and sponsorships, since it airs across North America. Companies are probably less likely to give up the real goods for a non-televised event. But that being said, past prizes are similar events have included: appliances, pool tables, vacations and yes, even a car or two.

Does buying a ticket mean that I’ll get to play?
No, according to the press release “Ticket purchase will not increase your chances of being selected to play.” If it works the same way as the Vegas show, all the contestants will be chosen completely at random. They aren’t pre-selected or interviewed like on the real show. Since it’s not airing on TV, producers are likely not as concerned about finding TV-ready folk. It’s completely random, which might make waiting to hear your name even more exciting.

What games will people be able to play?
Everything from Plinko to Cliffhangers and the Big Wheel are played, just like on the TV show. The Price is Right Live is produced by the same company that does American Idol, The X Factor and America’s Got Talent, so you know it’ll at least look good.

Do I have to get my pet spayed or neutered?
To get on the show? No, but you should anyway.

The Price is Right Live will hit the western-ish part of Canada in the first quarter of 2013:
Victoria, March 3rd
Kelowna, March 5th
Prince George, March 6th
Dawson Creek, March 7th
Calgary, March 9th
Edmonton, March 10th
Lethbridge, March 11th
Saskatoon March 13th
Winnipeg, March 18th

Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.

Same thing in Toronto. The show was big disappointment mainly because the format was completely different. The prize were at best a far cry than the tv show regardless of sponsorship and the long drawn out boring stand comedy routine just wasted time and made the pace of the stage show feel like we were sitting their forever. I will need to put this one back on my bucket list and myselt out to Burbank one day.

Just saw the show in Ottawa – wish I’d read these reviews first. Complete waste of time – lousy prizes unreasonable games. The couldn’t have given away more than 3K at the end of the day. NEVER again.

  7. John

We just went to the Toronto showing and it was horrible, the whole ordeal took 7 hours from start to finish, and yes it was a joke! They were giving away Tim Horton Coffee cards as prizes, really! And considering they were charging $60 per ticket and every show sold out in Toronto and they were doing multiple shows at the Sony Centre each show had 3000 people, do the math. This was not about doing a show for the fans of TPIR it was a huge money grab for TPIR! Considering that most of their fans are seniors on fixed incomes they should be ashamed of themselves for misleading and deceiving the public. People should email TPIR at customerservice@thepriceisright.com to complain!

They should call the Canadian Tour The Price Is Wrong

No longer a fan of the show.

    • Heather

Wow greattttt now I saw this AFTER I just got my tickets dammmmmm!!

      • Lynnie

I know! So bummed. Oh well. I will have fun being with my daughter. BTW, isn’t there some false advertising going on here? Hopefully, we will have Drew. If not, I won’t watch anymore, either.

  8. Rhonda

We have tickets for tomorrow night in Greeley, CO. I am excited to do. Just want to have fun and maybe win something, even if it is just a T-shirt.

  9. was it just a parting shot at Bob Barker to replace him with a bumbling failed clown like drew if your going to feel sorry for him ruin some other show with him not the price is right I used to like watching it.

  10. I am passing out Nearly a dozen dogecoins to the fortunate bastard of a blogging site manager with the
determined prize promotional code. The final results is
usually available in 4-weeks time. Your own prize code is: WAUSR10

  11. Thiis is a really good tip especially to those new to the blogosphere.
Short but very accurate information… Many thanks for sharing this one.
    A mmust read article!
