Gift A Day Giveaway #7: Coca-Cola Prize Pack! December 11th, 2011
When you think of the holidays, you tend to think about friends and family. But for many Canadians (including myself), animals are just as important. And how can you think about Canadian holidays and winter without Polar Bears, which thanks to a certain Al Gore documentary, we all know are at risk because of global warming.
This Christmas there is something you can do to protect one of our countries most treasured animals. To help protect the polar bear and its Arctic habitat, Coca Cola is supporting WWF’s conservation work that is focused on the area where summer Arctic sea ice is predicted to persist the longest in the face of climate change – The Last Ice Area project. To help fund the project, Coca-Cola has pledged $2 million over 5 years toward the polar bear conservation efforts by 2016.
Even cooler is that they are also matching donations up to a million dollars. Your $5 donation turns into $10. Seems like a good gift, no? So if you want to donate money to the WWF, then you know that twice as much will go to help protect these amazing creatures! Click here to donate.
To help kick off the donation campaign, I’ve got a great prize for all the Coca-Cola lovers on your Christmas list! It’s an Arctic Home for the Holidays prize pack and it comes with:
– 6-pack of Coca-Cola (in brilliant new white cans)
– 6 linen white / silver napkins
– 6 napkin rings
– 1 White serving platter
– WWF Adopt-a-Polar-Bear Stuffie
– Party crackers
– Arctic Home Donation Jar (To collect funds from your office or friends!)
Two ways to enter, each one will get you an entry to a maximum of two entries per gift! All entries must be received by Monday, December 19th at Noon/MST
1) Leave a comment telling me why you think Polar Bears are so important to Canada.
2) Second entry can be done on twitter. Tweet: “I want to win the Arctic Home @cocacola_ca prize pack from @mikesbloggity.http://ow.ly/7VHy5 #bloggitygifts”
Good luck and make sure you check back everyday! I’ve got prizes for the next two weeks! It’s going to be a blast!

People think of Canada as being so cold and you automatically think of polar bears as animals you would find there!
Polar bears are valued creatures by the Arctic’s indigenous communities.
They play an important role in the food chain in the Arctic
Because the polar bear is important as an indicator of arctic ecosystem health.

Polar bears are important to Canada because they are indicators of the health of the environment. If polar bears are at risk it may be a sign that other areas of the environment are at risk as well.

They are important to Canada because they are at the top of the arctic food chain and they are a national symbol. Save the polar bears!!
Polar bears are important because all living things are important and to see them endangered is very sad and heartbreaking. They are also a sign that we need to all do our part to save our environment and all of the endangered animals before it is too late.
Polar bears are a part of Canada’s history, and should be protected at all costs! Good job Coke!

Nearly 60 per cent of the world’s polar bears live in Canada. Global Warming is reducing the amount of pack ice in the Arctic, which polar bears depend on for survival. We need to do whatever we can to protect the polar bears.

I think Polar Bears are a symbol of the Great White North, and if we lose them, we will lose a significant part of nature — as well as our national identity.
Polar bears are important for many reasons…they are a valued part of Canada, and they are an important part of the animal kingdom in the North!
The are a symbol of the colder parts of Canada and they are gorgeous! I love the polar bears and think it’s great Coca Cola is trying to bring more awareness to these great animals
They are the only naturally invisible animal and they keep the arctic seal population in tack.
Polar bears are important to Canada because of the role they play on the food chain and keep the balance of the ecosystem…plus they are adorable
As the largest land carnivore, the Polar Bear is an excellent indicator of the health of an ecosystem…specifically the Arctic marine ecosystem.
I think Polar Bears are an important Canadian symbol. They represent our north.
Polar bears where here first and deserve their rightful place in their natural habitat to fulfill their role in nature as it was meant to be!

Love our Polar Bears.. they look so gentle but are actually NOT. Love watching them at the Toronto Zoo and are very important to Canada since it’s one of the animals we are trying hard to protect. Loved watching them with the kids this year on the live web cams – can’t wait til next year… (& I LOVE Coke)
