The Movie is Broken is Anything But July 12th, 2010
Can you love a movie more than any other movie ever based on its trailer alone?
Actually, I already know the answer’s “yes.” I knew the second I saw the trailer for The Movie is Broken that it would be my favourite movie of the year, maybe even of all-time.
Here’s my checklist for why it’s going to be awesome:
- Described as a rock show romance, the whole movie is based around a real Broken Social Scene concert.
- The trailer features my favourite BSS song, “Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl.”
- It’s directed by Bruce McDonald of Hard Core Logo fame.
- It’s a Canadian movie that doesn’t take place in a hockey rink or have anything to do with the wild west.
- McDonald calls the movie a “love letter to Toronto.”
Seriously: what more do you need?
The Movie is Broken is currently playing in Toronto (duh) and Vancouver, with a promise to expand to more cities soon.
Can’t wait. For now, I’ll continue to watch this trailer on repeat:
