A Royal Pain

>
Hey remember a couple of weeks ago when Prince Charles and that Camilla chick were in Canada? Wasn’t it amazing? Didn’t it change your life?

No?
Well then why did it cost you $2.57 Million? Okay, not you directly, but that is what it cost the Canadian government to keep the big ear-red one and his new wife safe. Was it worth it?
On top of security, our money covered things like hotel rooms, communication and media staff, salaries for their entourage and $50,000 for a special website.
Um….for the record, Mike’s Bloggity Blog would have done it for a Portable Blu-Ray player and a prolonged hug from the Queen. I’m just saying. (Of course, I also would have obviously done it for $50k, but I’m trying to make a point.
It’s never really bothered me if we have a monarchy or not, but cash is kinda tight right now, couldn’t the Royal Family had coughed up a little more money? I mean, wasn’t it a PR campaign for them any way?
What do you think?

Pants are Pants

I have a new favourite website.

It’s called Tights Are Not Pants. Direct and to point.
I like it.

VJ Search: The Final Four

>
Remember the VJ Search?

Yeah, that is still going on. Who knew?
After making the brutal cut of dropping Andrew Bravener, I wasn’t sure I had much faith in the competition. But now they are down to the final four and I got to say the it’s going to be close.
The four remaining contestants have been relying on their initial audition tapes to get them through so far, but this coming Friday, they’ll have to create a MuchNews Minute segment that will air on MOD.
Then the final four will be on MOD every day next week and the winner will finally be picked on December 4th.
The four Canadians left are:
Marlon Palmer (Toronto)
Laith Hakeem (Richmond Hill)
Liz Trinnear (London)
Alli Walker (Summerside)
I would be ridiculous to not give huge props to Alli Walker for being the only person not from Ontario in the competition!!! Especially being from the Maritimes, very very cool Alli, well done.
Who is going to win?
Since Much just hired a guy VJ like three weeks ago, I have to say that Marlon and Laith probably aren’t going to make the cut. That leaves Liz and Alli, two blondes, left to fill the tiny shoes of Leah Miller.
I’ve been a Liz fan the whole time, but you gotta respect Alli for being from a super small town and still being able to create buzz for herself. Trust me, I know how hard that is.
I think I’m going to hold off making my decision between the two girls until next week. Because if anything is going to go horribly wrong, it will be next week on live tv.
Good luck!

Glee's curtain closing! (but not before a new Christmas song!)

>
We all know that GLEE is on tonight. (If you don’t, then we are on a friendship-break.)

But did you know that Glee has it’s Fall finale on December 9th and then after that, we’ll be Glee-less until…wait for it….April 13th, 2010.
Deep Breath.
Stop Crying.
We still have a couple of weeks left, but I figured I would tell you know. Give you time to digest the news. But don’t be too sad, Glee Vol.2 comes out December 8th and the first twelve episodes hit DVD shelves on December 29th.
That makes it better right?

If not, maybe this new Glee christmas single will make it better. Listen to it below, it should be available to buy soon! Note that I said buy, not download illegally.

CBC vs. Sarah Palin

>

Canada’s favourite political princess warrior, Marg Delahunty (This Hour Has Twenty Minutes) recently had a run in with the infamous Sarah Palin. After asking the former Governor of Alaska about Canada’s health care system, Palin responded rather boldly:
“Canada needs to dismantle its public health-care system and allow private enterprise to get involved and turn a profit.”

Just to be clear, there is no way she can run in Canada right?

Canadian HULU on it's way!

>
I just got my Christmas Gift from Rogers: It’s Canadian Hulu site!

Yes, that is a tear coming down my face. I’m so happy.
If you don’t know what HULU is, it’s basically an ad-supported online video service. NBC has been using it for a couple of years and it’s amazing. Not only does it have TV shows, it also has full length movies.
Up until now, the site has been blocked for Canadians (even if you use an ISP blocker), but block will essentially be lifted (thanks to Rogers) on November 30th! The content will not be NBC content though.
“We’re no longer in the cable TV business. We’re in the video entertainment business,” said Dave Purdy, vp of video product management at Rogers, as he unveiled a beta version of Rogers On Demand Online Monday night ahead of the national rollout.
Rogers will offer its cable and high-speed Internet subscribers access online to an initial 15 channels which it owns in whole or partly, including Citytv, Rogers Sportsnet, A&E Canada, Bio and G4 Canada.
Great day for Canadian TV lovers like me!

Another Celeb in Town!

>

How come it was only last night that I found out that Kate Walsh is in Calgary filming?! These are things I should know! Sigh. I know that I missed a phone call the other day, and I can only assume it was her asking me out for dinner. We would have gone to McDonalds and talked about her new scary movie Legion and Private Practice. Then I would have asked to brush her pretty, pretty hair. It would have been grand.
Next time I guess. You can follow Kate on twitter here.
Thanks to @barrefly for the tip!

Jacksoul singer dies

>
Such sad music news.

The lead singer of Jacksoul, Haydain Neale has passed away. At the age of only 39 years old, he died of lung cancer on Sunday. He was only diagnosed seven months ago.
Wow. That is scary.
The last couple of years haven’t been easy for Neale, who was still recovering from his injuries after being hit by a car in 2007.
Jacksoul is still planning on releasing a new CD on Dec. 1st.
Here is the bands video for their single, Still Believe In Love. What a talented performer!

I finally watched Twilight

>On Monday night, the impossible happened. I watched Twilight. You can go puke, I almost did.

I’ll wait.
Are you back? Okay, let me explain.
I have this friend Victoria, she loves Twilight. So much so that our differing opinions on the movie was becoming detrimental to our friendship. So I bit the bullet and watched the vampire flick, she is that good of a friend.
My overall opinion will not be shocking. It was cheesy and sorta super-lame. But everyone knows that. And seriously who gave Kristen Stewart the right to be such a self-righteous actress. It was the closest form of torture, outside of reading a novel, I hope to ever have to experience.
But my biggest problem with the movie was it’s overall message. When Bella finds out that Edward is a vampire, she is totally cool with it. When she finds out he used to kill people, she’s like “yeah, that’s fine, it doesn’t matter.” Um, actually Bella, yeah it does. Love is great and all, but if someone tells you that they are un-dead and kill people, that should at least be something you consider to be a deal breaker. I mean sure, it would be great to work through it, but to be 100% complacent is just poor judgement. And yes, it is a bit creepy to watch someone sleep. Creepy should never be confused for romantic. Need further clarification: Romantic is buying flowers or a Where The Wild Things Are t-shirt, creepy is watching someone sleep and then telling them about it. I’m not sure it’s the exact message we want to be sending out to our tween girls who adore this movie. Hey girls, does your crush make Chris Brown look like Mary Poppins? No worries, as long as you love him. It was a probably a one-time thing anyway. Yikes.
It’s things like this that terrify me about having kids. I’m adding Twilight to the list of movies that my kids must watch on their twelve birthday. Also on the list is Fight Club and A Requiem for a Dream. That should teach them good.

Scrub really hard

>

You may or may not know this, but SCRUBS is actually coming back to TV next week (Dec.1st), for it’s NINTH season. Even though the show kinda ended last season, creator Bill Lawrence had the opportunity to keep 200 people employed so he took it. Nothing wrong with that.
Here is the first promo shot of the new season.
The show looks….oh wait…what’s that? No, I didn’t read the whole press release, this picture is for what? An X-rated Scrubs movie?! Seriously, it’s a porn movie? That exists? Yikes and awesome.

That doesn’t seem right, but is it wrong that I’m sorta intrigued. I think I kinda want to watch it…for research purposes. If, for whatever reason, you are curious, find out more here.
But back to the real SCRUBS. It comes back next Tuesday, here is a little teaser promo. Can’t wait.
