Love for the Geminis!

>
I’m getting more and more excited for the Geminis! They are just a couple of weeks away now and looking at the guest list, it’s going to be quite the weekend in Calgary.

They Gemini organizers just added Cory Monteith (Finn on Glee) as a presenter at the awards. I don’t quite know how I’m going to do it, but I’m going to track him down and interview the shit out of him. I don’t know anyone at Global to help track down his managment, but if you do email me at: mikesbloggityblog@gmail.com
Also presenting at the awards are Being Erica’s Erin Karpluk, Flashpoints’s Hugh Dillon, Melrose Place’s Jessica Lucas and George Stoumboulopoulos!!

This weekend is going to be epic.
16 sleeps!

Video: Michael Coren Show!

>
I don’t know if you all got the chance to catch The Michael Coren show on last night, but I got to be a guest panelist. It was really cool and way different than the stuff I usually do, so that was great.

I got some of the highlights below of me on the show. Our topics varied from gay scientologists, and why Maddy Gosselin is such a bitch, to Balloon Boy and why I might wear a dress on Halloween!
Here are the clips below!

Happy Halloween

>
Finally Halloween weekend is upon us and I couldn’t be happier. But not because I love Halloween. I’m excited because I HATE Halloween and I’m so excited that it’s here, so it can soon be gone.

Mostly it comes down to the fact that I’ve never been a fan of costumes. I think this becuase when I was 12-years-old I was forced to dress up like a cupcake and sing and dance all around new brunwick. I’m not psychologist, but that shit ain’t right.
So I’ll be taking it easy this Saturday night. I’m guessing there probably be some wine, some wavy lays ruffle chips and the best Halloween movie of all time: Hocus Pocus!

Finally!

>
Guess who finally got a Google Wave invite!!!!

This is going to be a gooooooooood weekend!

And the new VJ is…..

>

Since muchmusic couldn’t wait for the VJ Search to finish, they went ahead and hired a another new VJ.
Just a few minutes ago, the music station just announced that the new VJ’s name is Jesse Giddings! Check out his very MM webpage!
Giddings is a long time musician, avid concert goer and social media guru (follow him on twitter) and I think MuchMusic’s demo is going to LOVE him.
Here’s why:

But Giddings won’t be the new guy for long, as the music station will be announcing the winner of the VJ search on Nov. 23!!!
This also bodes well for the four women left in the VJ search since, Gidding technically replaces Matt Babel and now they’ll be looking for someone to replace the departed Leah Miller.
What do you think of the new VJ?
I do have to give props to Out is Through who called this one weeks ago. Good scoopage Chris!

Review: Puppetry of The Penis

>
All week long, I’ve been talking about the adult/non-sex show called Puppetry of The Penis and last night in Calgary, I finally got to see….well, yeah, I saw everything.

Even though I got the chance to talk to the guys before, and had visited their website numerous times, I still wasn’t prepared for 60 minutes of penis origami. There were no props, there were no sets, there was no clothes. Just two guys and their penises. My friend Stephanie said it reminded her of balloon animals. (Just keep them away from kids.)
I have never written the word penis so much-sorry mom.

I can’t think of a time where the audiences was losing it as much as they were last night. Of course, the alcohol probably had something to with it. But the sides of me and my friends were painfully sore as we drank our beer. More than once, I did my patented move of pulling up my hoodie and covering my ears. I don’t really know what purpose that serves, but it happens makes me feel better when I’m terrified. Especially when there are real-life flying penises all over the place.
If you ever get the chance to see puppetry of the penis, I cannot recommend it enough. Easily the best money you’ll ever spend. If you want to try do one of their famous moves, here are the instructions for…The Hamburger!

Gone too Soon: Taylor Mitchell

>

A young singer from Toronto was attacked and killed by a coyote in Cape Breton yesterday!
To make this event even more tragic, Taylor Mitchell had just started her first tour on Friday and she was also celebrating her Canadian Folk Music Award nomination.
I had never heard of Mitchell before, but having listened to some of her songs on her myspace page, Canada has lost a true talent. She definitely had a bright and successful future ahead of her! Since news of her death, Taylor’s Facebook Fan Page has been swamped with messages of condolences.
I feel like an ass, because I didn’t even know that coyotes could be that dangerous!
Take a listen to Taylor’s music and let’s all remember a great Canadian talent.

Albertan Scores Big Time!

>
Picture this:

  • You are living in Lacombe, Alberta.
  • You are playing volleyball.
  • All of a sudden Ronald McDonald is in your face with a camera crew and everyone starts cheering.
Are you dreaming? Is this a nightmare? Nope. But it is exactly what happened to 12-year-old Ty Wagar last night.
He was lucky enough to be chosen to one of the eleven kids chosen from across Canada to attend the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games as part of the McDonald’s Champion Kids program.
Ty will have the chance to meet athletes, visit cultural sites and interact with more than 50 other kids from around the world!
And the whole surprise went off without a hitch on Tuesday night. Ty was surrounded by Ronald McDonald, his teammates, family and friends and was presented with a special Olympic send-off package to the Games and message from Olympian Cassie Campbell.
I’m also assuming he will get now a lifetime supply of Big Macs. Or at least he should!
Now that is something to be to jealous about!
Congrats Ty! Do Alberta Proud!!
