I’m a bad blu-ray owner.

I’ve had my blu-ray for a couple of months now and I own one singular DVD. It’s naturally, The Dark Knight. I think I’m too scared to commit to buying too many Blu-Rays because I don’t necessarily trust that they are going to still be around in a couple of months.

I mean just look at what happened to the poor owners of the HD Player and all their now useless HD DVDs. They have about as much value as winning a Canadian reality show.

But it turns out that is not lost for those of you who still own HD DVDs. Because according to The Review Crew, there is a new trade-in program called Red2Blu. All you do is send in your old HD-DVDs and this company will send you the Blu-Ray Version!

You can’t put a price on that! So cool.
Oh wait…yes you can put a price on it. It’s $4.95 per disc plus $6.95 shipping and handling.

Still better than trying to sell them on Ebay right?!

Best video ever: Crazy French Girl

>After two years of looking, I have finally found my favorite Youtube video of all.time.

“David Goes to the Dentist” can suck it!
“Susan Boyle” can eat it!
Crazy french girl has it the bag!

Since finding this video last night, I have honestly lost track of how many times I’ve watched it. This girl is twelve kinds of crazy and I love every second of it!! I’m not sure if this was filmed as an audition to be the new co-host of the View or what, but I feel bad for whoever is going to end up teaching this psycho Dora-in training. I can’t confirm this, but I’m hearing rumors that Belinda Stronach has already recruited this girl to help her with her next political campaign. I think it was the putting poor animals in jail that sold Stronach on the idea!

I’m calling right now, this girl will someday rule the world. Or completely destroy it.
Enjoy!

Twitter vs. Mulroney

>
One of my favorite things about Twitter is the ability to “follow” famous people. Whether they are movie stars, musicians or my favorite, television writers.

One of the most annoying things about twitter, is the amount of fake people that are out there. No I’m not talking about the cast of the Hills. People who have nothing better to do than make a fake account and pretend they are someone they are not. Oh wait, maybe I am talking about the cast of the Hills.
So annoying. Unless of course you are talking about @etalkben. In which case, this fake twitter account is the best thing going. Sadly, I feel like it might even be more entertaining than the real Ben Mulroney. Oh who are we kidding, my crappy cellphone that dies after one text message, is more entertaining than Ben Mulroney. I’m pretty sure I found the thing I sneezed onto my kitchen table yesterday, more interesting than the Etalk host. The other day I tripped and fell. I ended up breaking my coller bone and almost died. I didn’t cry until the nurse turned on Etalk. But I’m getting off track.
The best thing about whoever is “twittering” for Ben is that, he keeps insisting he is the real thing. Even though CTV has announced that he is indeed fake.
Some of my favorite tweets include:
  • “In the car on the way to Casino Rama. Please support CDN auto workers. Sure, my car is from Germany, but my chauffeur is from Windsor.”
  • My “business lunches” alone led to the layoffs of half a dozen Globe writers. Hey guys, no hard feelings, right?
  • Accidently made eye contact with a waiter…just lost my appetite.
  • Yes, I know yesterday was Earth Day, but do you expect me to take public transit? I mean, c’mon!
  • going for a Mani/Pedi. Can’t tweet with an army of asian women working my cuticles, so i’ll talk at you all later.
Hmm I wonder if they can hire this guy to host Canadian Idol next year when it comes back. Wait, we are still believing it’s coming back next year right? Haha, oh CTV. You make me laugh, even when Ben doesn’t. Which to be clear, is all the time.

UPDATE: Apparantley “Brian Mulroney” has also joined Twitter! Someone is going to be getting there GST-paying ass sued!

New Music: The Good Attack

>
Attack in Black is a canadian band that has been getting HUGE international buzz and they are in the midst of a cross country tour right now.  Tomorrow night, they are playing at the Palomino in Calgary and then some shows in the prairies, all over Ontario before they head to Quebec.

Since I’m always on the search for awesome Canadian music, I’m really happy about this find. What I think is kick ass about Attack in Black is that their music is really strong mix of melodic folk and rock. Their songs aren’t dreary and depressing, even the ones that are about being dreary and depressed. Checking out their Myspace, you can experience their broad range in just a couple of songs.

If you are a fan of City and Colour (and who isn’t), you should have an extra appreciation of Attack in Black because two of it’s members, Spencer Burton and Daniel Romano, were major contributers to the last Dallas Green album, Bring me Your Love.

Attack in Black’s newest CD, Years by One Thousand Fingertips, was just released a couple of weeks ago. They’ll even be releasing it on LP very soon!

Check out their video here:

Update from Steve (who writes an entire blog about burgers!):

Years (by One Thousand Fingertips) is out on vinyl; i’m not sure if it’s in record stores across Canada yet, but you can definitely get it from their distributor (mymerch i think?)

Friday Smile

>Try to watch this and not smile.

My only complaint about this video is what’s with all the kids shaking their heads? Is this some sort of MS camp? Or is the first class of the American Idol School for hamming it up?

Either way, sounds great.

Turtles and Pizza. What more could you want?

>

Well if you looking for news about ninja turtles that eat pizza, it doesn’t get much cooler than this.
First the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles celebrated their 25th Anniversary this week in New York City.  Now before you throw yourself over a building because you just realized how old you are and feel, head on over to Out is Through for all the details on the party that was totally more than a half shell.
The Mirage Group and Legendary Pictures announced this week that they are making a new Ninja Turtles movie! Better yet, it’s not going to be like that last one that was completely animated and practically sacrilegious to those of us that spent weeks’ of our allowances on watching the live action movies that pretty formed my early childhood and scared the shit out of me all at the same time.  This one is going to be live action and I’m assuming, amazing.
The new live action movie is expected in 2011 and until then, please re-live me the awesomeness of the trailer for the first Ninja Turtles movie.
Only two years!

A reason to watch hockey

>
Hold on to your socks and sandals, I’m going to talk about hockey.

And no, it’s not about the Mighty Ducks movies, although I really wish it was. (Seriously, when are they going to remake that shit?)
Top Cheddar just pointed out to me this amazing photo gallery on Sports Illustrated.com.  It’s hockey players and their celebrity doppelgangers, it’s called Separated at Birth-NHL -style.  I have no idea who any of these hockey players are but sweet lord do they ever have some celebrity twins!  I think my favorite is some guy named Andrei Markov and Mr. Bean.  I laughed a good long time at that one.
There I talked about sports.  My parents would be so proud.

Stupid Alberta: Home sweet home?

>
Wow! Check out the new Alberta tourism ad! Beautiful right?

Yeah, too bad that beach isn’t in Alberta. It isn’t even in Canada!
That beach is actually in England.

Which, unless you failed geography, you know is not in Alberta.

Maybe this has something to do with the fact that it’s cheaper to fly to europe than it is to fly across Canada?  Conspiracy theorists discuss!

Oh did I mention this is apart of a $25 Million campaign!
