Coke Line Up!

>
Wanna know who is playing the Coca Cola Stage at the Calgary Stampede this year?

July 2nd-Mariana’s Trench (meh)
July 3rd-Hinder (like they have elsewhere to play)
July 4th-Serena Ryder and Carly Rae Jepsen (two of my bffs.  I hope they call)
July 11th Bif Naked (cooler than cool)
July 12th Johnny Reid (undecided)
More artists announced tomorrow!

The Cure?!

>This is perhaps my favorite random set of Google Ad links ever!

They appeared on my blog earlier today and I couldn’t help but think about the coralation between the 5 of them.  It leads me to assume or suggest that fashion designers, both good and bad, are responsible for the swine flu.
But to call Spencer a pig disease?  That’s just mean Google Ads.

Do you have it?

>
Because I’ve watched 5 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and have never missed an episode of Scrubs, I feel like I should be able to diagnose symptoms of the swine flu.

Why wait in the line at the doctors, when a mildly amusing* entertainment blog has your answers?
You probably have swine flu if:
1) You have been craving a Wendy’s Baconator like no one’s business.
2) The frustrations of Piglette are suddenly hitting home emotionally.
3) You take offense when kids call cops pigs.
4) You watch CNN or FOX.
5) Your friend’s mom’s brother’s old neighbor dog-sat for someone who knew this teacher who had a cousin who’s sister went to Mexico last year.
Don’t say I didn’t help.
*says my mom and therapist.

The National Post is taking a break

>

It was announced today that the National Post would be doing what we all wish we could do and take Monday’s off.  This summer for nine weeks, the Post will be calling in sick, in order to save some money.
This is probably a good idea since Mondays are normally slow news days and if anything exciting  happens you know that The Ampersand will have it covered, sorry, i’m biased.
Heck if stopping the newspaper all together means that Canwest keep the E! network, then I would totally be okay with that.  I need my Chelsea Handler and The Soup like a Nickelback fan needs a G.E.D.
On a similar note:  Do we really need mail every day?  I’d be fine if I got it every couple of days.  Wouldn’t this save us a bunch of money?

Kelly Out, Reba In!

>
It was announced yesterday that Kelly Clarkson was postponing her Calgary Stampede show and moving it to November to coincide with her North American tour. So it looks like Calgary no longer has Kelly Clarkson bragging rights, which always I weird thing to have anyway. It’s also frustrating because I went through with a “Kelly Clarkson’s Only Canadian Tour Stop” tattoo around my navel. Crap.

Anyway, don’t be too sad stampeders because your can still use your Kelly Clarkson ticket in november and you can still use your ticket for admission into the park during the Calgary Stampede.
In turn, it was announced today that Reba McEntire would be taking over Kelly’s spot on July 9th. Which is not a bad replacement. It’s interesting because Reba’s husband is also Kelly’s manager. This is how I imagine that conversation going down:
manager: yeah, so kelly can’t come in july.
stampede: what? but stampede would suck without her!
manager: cheesy, but accurate. I’m sorry. She’ll be back in november though.
stampede: uhhh well, you’ll have to find someone to replace her.
manager: uhhh. okay. hold on (puts phone down). “Reba, honey, what are you doing July 9th”.
reba: (in background): Probably just watching Tremors again.
manager (to stampede): Reba can do it. Would you guys be okay with Reba?
stampede: Kelly Clarkson who?
Reba tickets are $59.50 to $79.50, which includes admission to the Stampede on the day of the concert. Tickets will go on sale on May 15th, but I’ll obviously have the presale for ya!

UPDATE: Here are the presale passwords (click here)

Free Music: Attack in Black

>Who doesn’t love free music?

Especially great music.
Just wanted to give a special heads up that this week’s Itunes single of the week is awesome.  It’s from Attack in Black, which coincidentally is the band I talked about late last week.
It’s called Blood (In the Tracks) and it’s one my favorites from the band.
On a semi-related note, Am I the only one that LOVES the single of the week each and every week?  Seriously I’m obsessed.  Between that and Starbucks’ Pick of the Week, it’s my favorite way to find great (usually Canadian) music and make some sexy playlists!
My all time favorite single of the week was Matt & Kim‘s “Daylight”.  That song is the ulitmate get out of your funky mood song!  So good.
My only question is how does Itunes choose the single of the week?  My recommendation would be Andy Brown or Dojo Workhorse.  Two of my favs that are totally deserving of the PR jackpot.

I smell the end of the earth…

>If this pig swine thing wasn’t a big enough sign of the apocalypse for you, this should do the trick:

The Hills has been renewed for a 5th season.
Now I really feel sick.
“MTV viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before as “The Hills” returns this fall with more episodes of season five. Lauren has moved on, but Heidi, Audrina, Spencer, Brody, Stephanie, Lo and Justin Bobby will be back as the drama continues with fresh faces, new stories and shocking surprises. Spencer and Heidi will be newlyweds so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work.”
So…um…let me just get one thing straight.  Like the rest of the world, Lauren has moved on.  Yet all these people are still going to be friends, but their only mutual friend was Lauren.  So…uh…I’m confused.
Also, who do you think is going to narrate the show now?  Former Laguna Beacher Kristen Cavallari is supposed to be the new face joining the show, do you think they’ll give her her old hosting duties back? How pathetic is my life for actually wondering these questions?
You know what’s sadder than all of this?
I read about the Hills being renewed in Time Magazine.
Now if this isn’t the apocalypse, I don’t know what is.

Sophie's last stand?

>
Poor Sophie. Even crossing her fingers didn’t help her.

First the CBC show can cut from the schedule like Keri Russell’s hair.
And now ABC Family, which was airing the Canadian series, as pulled it as well.
I knew the CanadianTV  bubble had to burst sometime.
But luckily no one in states is going to miss it too much.  According to Futon Critic: “ The series, which ran for two seasons on the CBC, averaged a 0.15 rating among adults 18-49 for its five-week run on the cable channel.”  What does that number mean?  More people were puking from the swine flu than watching this show.  Which isn’t saying much.
The show was supposed to be on the air until June 15th.
thanks tv-eh for the heads up.

Phone Emergency

>
I have decided that I want/need a new cell phone.

Blackberry or IPhone’s are obvious choices, but I’m open to discussion.

The phone I have now was supposed to save Africa or something like that, instead it just dies after every text message.

Thoughts? Ideas? Concerns?

Also, please note that birthday is 13 sleeps away.
Just saying.
