Movie Friday!

>Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li opens today!!!!Raise your hand if you care!

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Another 13!

>
Another Friday, another horror movie.

Rumors are swirling that New Line Cinema is planning on making a sequel to the winter hit Friday the 13th. Now normally I would totally be cool with horror movie sequels, I am more excited for Halloween 2 then I am my next pay cheque, but I have a problem with Friday the 13th….

The first one sucked so hard I am having trouble coming up with ways in which this movie was awful. Even for a horror movie it was impossibly stupid. I literally could not imagine how the writers could come up with a more stupid movie.

The following is a list of things stupider than Friday the 13th:

  • nothing

Want an example? During the film the surviving the teens run into a barn. The guy tells the girl to hide. She hides behind a lamp. A lamp people, a LAMP!

Shit, this just ruins my Friday.

I love Arizona

>
YES! YES! YES!

Grey’s Anatomy doesn’t do very many things right lately.
Example:
Episode 5.15-  Addison:  “Derek I need you to be god!”
Episode-5.16- Addison: “You don’t get to play god here Derek!”
Sweet lord make up your mind.
Anyway, like I was saying, Grey’s has been struggling for a while but finally they are doing something to stop the bleeding.  It’s just been announced that Jessica Capshaw has signed on to keep playing Arizona for the rest of the season and maybe onto next year!
This is good news for us because Capshaw is a lot of fun and has already brought so much to the show in her short run. This is especially good news for Callie who is crushing all over Arizona!

New U2!

>

Wanna listen to the new U2 album for free and legally?
Check out MuchMusic’s first spin of the No Line on The Horizon that comes out next week.
I don’t think it’s as bad as others are saying, but it’s nothing spectacular.
If you feel like being put in a bad mood by crappy music you can also listen to the Mariana’s Trench which is where this band belongs.  In a trench.

CW renewed!

>
Things sure our busy over at the CW these days.  Which is weird because no one seems to be watching their shows.  But regardless big decisions are being made!

First, the new-ish network has decided to go ahead with a planned pilot of Melrose Place reboot.  All together now: “siiiigggghhhh”.  Hopefully this isn’t because they think the 90210 reboot was a creative success, because it’s not.  Are there really no orginal ideas anymore.  I think this requires a double sigh.
The CW has also just announced seven renewals. They include the aforementioned 90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 2 more cycles of ATNM, Supernatural and surprisingly Smallville, which has been on FOREVER.
Sadly missing from the renewal list is the utterly charming Privileged which will have it’s fate decided after the numbers from last night’s finale are in.  Fingers crossed for quality television!

Barnaked Ladies Shocker!

>
In any other country the title of this blog post would be mean something so much cooler. But alas, we are Canadian and we all know that The Barenaked Ladies are from our home and native land.

Well the band dropped some shocking news today when they announced that lead singer Steven Page is leaving the group to pursue solo projects! Of course, given his recent run in with cocaine, it’s probably safe to assume that by solo projects he means getting high in alleys. But that is just a guess!

The band has said that they’ll continue on without him because…well really what other choice does the band have? I think the band should have a reality show to find their newest singer. I know lots of friends in Calgary and the maritimes that got some mad skills!

But the news of Page leaving shouldn’t be taken lightly. It was too long ago that BNL was one of the most original bands out there, they created catchy songs and knew how to throw a great concert.

But if you ask me, this whole thing reaks of a reunion tour just around the corner. Page won’t be gone longer than one week. (get it? see what I did there? clever.)

In memory of the band as we currently know it check out my too favorite BNL songs below! What about you? Do you have some favorite songs? Do you care that Page is leaving? Do you have any drugs he could buy off you?

Gloomy times for Global, CTV soars!

>
Dang! Global just got bitch slapped by CTV.

Things aren’t looking good for the Canwest Global as of late and the news is getting worse.  The ratings for Canada’s Oscar coverage was just released and CTV’s Etalk shin-punched Global’s ET Canada by more than 21%!  Ben Mulroney, Tanya Kim and my friend Lainey also won in the key demos (Adults 25-54 and adults 18-49)!  Etalk’s Oscar coverage also scored the show it’s highest ratings of the season!  Crazy!
While these numbers aren’t  a complete domination, it’s probably not the news that Canwest wanted to hear!  Maybe they should hire a certain bald headed blogger as a correspondent….
Come on Campenelli get your act together!

Fringe coming to Canada!

>
Score one for Canada!

The FOX hit Fringe has made a big decision about it’s second season, even though the network hasn’t even said that the show will have one.

According to THR, the sci-fi series which stars Canadian Joshua Jackson (Pacey!) is moving it’s production from NYC to Vancouver this summer. Citing economic-times, the shows producers decided to announce this even though no second season has been officially announced. Which is obviously good news for Fringe fans. Now that our canadian dollar is back in the toilet, it’s much cheaper to film here again and since ratings for Fringe aren’t huge, it makes sense to move to a cheaper local to convince FOX to keep it on the air just a little bit longer!

This is great news for the vancouver which has been hit hard by the economic slump!
Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!

And no, I still haven’t seen an episode of Fringe. At this point, I’ve decided to wait for the DVDs which will be released for the supposed second season kicks of this fall!

Crap The Hills is back!

>Have you seen it yet?
It’s the new trailer for season 5 of the Hills.

Watch and let’s discuss!

  • Oh my god that psychic is crazy, she can watch The Hills on DVD and then talk in a mysterious voice. Crazy!
  • I think I would love love love The Hills if it was a drama and not a fake reality show.
  • Lo asks “like really what’s next?”. She obviously hasn’t gotten the script.
  • If I never hear “You know what you did, you know what you did!” again, it will be too soon!
  • What no acknowledgment of Brody’s new Bro-mance?
  • Why does Spencer talk like he is Randy Jackson?
  • It doesn’t show it in the trailer, but Stephanie Pratt has replaced Whitney at People’s Revolution. Right, so your sworn enemy’s sister gets your best friends job and is now your new best friend? Completely realistic.
  • Certainly seems like this might be it for The Hills, which means the inevitable SPEIDI spin off is just around the corner.

So what are your thoughts? Will you watch? Do you care? How sad would your life have to be that your only happy memories have been with Lauren?
The Hills premieres next month on MTV.
