>I’ve spent some time this week catching up with old friends and hearing about all their great projects. One of those people is my friend Travis Grant and his partner (in film, not love) Davin Tong. Together they produce short films under the production company of Gradual Upgrade.
Now lots of my friends post crazy stuff on youtube all the time, but what’s really impressive about Graduale Upgrade is that they have now converted a lot of their videos into HD. On top of that, they videos have been quietly and slowly developing a massive and loyal audience.
One of their videos was posted on Saturday and it was already the #1 rated and most discussed comedy video in Canada. Insane! Talk about representing Fredericton. Both Travis and Davin are Vancouver film school grads and they are really using the internet and their creative talents to make a name for themselves.
One of my favorite clips is called Chew on This. It is both hilarious and mind numbingly annoying at the same time.
Well done Gradual Upgrade you are just like Paris Hilton.
>If you are like someone I know and looking for a break from you family, tonight is your night!
Both The City and Bromance premiere on MTV tonight and if these completely unnecessary Hills-spinoffs aren’t must see TV then I don’t know what is!
How can the Hills most genuine (boring) character carry her own show? How many shows can Brody Jenner possibly find himself on? Will these shows actually be any better than if MTV just played videos instead?
All these questions and more will be answered tonight. So tell your family your busy, get yourself a nice bottle of wine (at least $9) and enjoy a night full of laughs, tears and mostly jeers!
That’s what I get for taking a couple of days off. While the rest of us were taking the holidays off to enjoy time with friends and family, some people with very poor choices in movies made Marley and Me the #1 movie at the box office.
More upsetting is the fact that the Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson film broke records with it’s opening! Marley & Me had the biggest box office total on Christmas Day ever ($14.7 million)! It has now grossed more than $52 million since opening on Christmas Day. Doesn’t that seem crazy? That doesn’t even seem right or legal. Did people just want to throw away their gift certificates on a craptacular movie?
Maybe movie-goers didn’t want to take in the serious Oscar contenders like Benjamin Button and Doubt just yet. But they will, they’ll come around and soon this stupid dog movie will be out of our memory for good. At least until the sequel….
Also upsetting is the fact that Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The MovieTwilight has now officially made more than 007′s Quantum of Solace.
>My niece has been learning her letters and it’s been a blast to be around and watch her learn to spell words. Her favorite game is to write out letters and then have us guess the word.
It’s usually quite difficult, but there was one of her messages that came through abundantly clear. This one is going to be a handful.
>Here are few sampling a possible Facebook status’ updates that could have applied over the past couple of days.
Michael…. …is shocked that Fredericton has two Starbucks. … wonders how Santa knew about his emotional luggage and not his actual luggage. … feels bad for all the people stuck in airports all over the country. …loves how much his mom loves the holidays….and red wine. …has his first real photo shoot this week. Fredericton won’t know what hit him. …is trying to pick a fight with Trevor Doyle. …spent the day looking for pop rocks. Thanks Santa! …finally got his luggage!!! 4 days and three trips to the Superstore later! …just discovered Garfield minus Garfield. …thinks there are a lot of holes in this whole birth of christ thing, but is still willing to celebrate.
If you are a producer and you want to just blow your money, just give me a call. I will always accept it and have tons of talented friends that will be happy to make quality films with it!
As many people know most of Canada has been snowed in like it was Kate Moss’ apartment. I’m currently in New Brunswick for the holidays.
My friends and I in the middle of surviving literally the WORST STORM I have ever seen in my life. It is officially a blizzard and my friends and I were lucky enough to find one of the last cabs available when they were pulled off the room.
I got lots of pictures and videos and will post them as soon as I get home and my camera cable. When I get home will be anyone’s guess.
So what is going on right now?
Five of us will be spending the night in my friend’s Francis’ apartment. Oh sweet jesus there is a bird flying around this place. The bird’s name is Chester. My friends Cat and Michelle and I are having hot chocolate. Michelle’s boyfriend, Andrew, is wearing penguin pyjamas…..in fact we are all in Francis’ pyjamas. It’s kinda like her high school days.
Good luck to everyone surviving this storm. I hope everyone is lucky enough to have great friends to put them up for the night. Stay warm and safe!
>We all know that the jr. whopper is the best burger out there ever! I always say that if Burger King could steal McDonald’s fries, they would dominate the world fast food market….at least for me.
Now, just in time for Christmas, you can smell like your favorite Burger King scent.
Flame Body Spray is available at Ricky’s NYC for only $3.99!
Now the most important question: Do you get it for someone you love or someone you hate?
