The Office comes to Canada

>

I don’t know if Canadians are ready for what is about to come their way.

The Office.

No sadly, we aren’t getting our own version of the hilarious American comedy which in turn is a update of the original UK The Office. Phew, was that confusing?

Anyway, it turns out The Office crew will be heading to Winnipeg to do what they sell best, sell paper. But to do budgetary issues (come on NBC!), they won’t be coming up to Canada, instead they’ll film the Manitoba based scenes in LA. You know, because they are such similar cities.

Apparantly they chose Winnipeg because it is the right mix of, “between exotic and obscure.”

Truer words have never been spoken.
Hmm, I wonder if Bob and Doug McKenzie will be making an appearance. I bet they could give Michael Scott a run for his money!

Either way, this is turning out to be a great week for all things Canadian!

A scary post!

>Happy Halloween!

As many people know I am not a big fan of today. It seems weird for me to say but I actually hate the idea of dressing up in a costume and having people look at me, which is odd because I usually LOVE when people are looking at me.

But I do love this time of year because there are TONS of scary movies to rent, watch on TV or spend $100 seeing at the movie theatres and I love me some scary movies. As long as they are not about ghosts, I hate movies about ghosts. Serial Killers? Sure. Zombies? Why not. But ghosts? No thanks!

But I do have a scary video to share with you today. My friend Lisa sent it to me and when I saw it I let out the most horrific screams. It’s definitely a great Halloween treat!

I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween weekend! I’m going to be in Red Deer Alberta. Wish me luck!!!!

It's all done!

>Okay, so hopefully this will be my last Two Strangers and A Wedding Post….today. The wedding was over 12 hours ago and I’m still trying to process the whole experience. For me it was one I hope I never forget, but I have a horrific memory, so it’s lucky that I have a blog to remind me whenever I see fit.

With all the drama of the wedding aside, today was an amazing day for me as a writer who is still trying to find his place in Calgary. Anytime I go to events like these I often feel overwhelmed by all the journalists around me. They have fancy cameras, microphones and journalism degrees and I just have the knack of making inappropriate jokes whenever I notice a lag in conversation. Barbara Walters I am not.

But today I sorta felt like one of the gang and I think that has a lot to do with the amazing people at Energy 101.5. People always ask if they are as nice as they seem and truth be told, they really really are! A giant big thank you to Meg, Frank, Erin, Zack, Tripp, Shalini, Khaz, Rob, James, Carlos, Monica, Gavin, Conan, Ian and everyone at the Energy crew. You guys are amazing!

I also got to meet the wedding photographers and if you get the chance, take a look at their website, F8 Photography because they are quite amusing characters and they just happen to take great shots.

I’d also like to thank Alexis and Beth from CTV in Toronto who kept in the loop on all the behind scenes stuff. (True Story: Leann Rhimes is in Calgary filming a movie and she asked for a seat at the wedding because she couldn’t miss it. Unfortunately Her filming schedule changed last minute and she couldn’t make it afterall, wouldn’t that have been cool!)

Big Thanks to Shawna from The Communicators who was also really helpful this morning showing me around and sharing a champagne toast with me.

And one last thank you to the over 10,000 people that check out Mike’s Bloggity Blog today! Thank you especially for your comments, even not all of them were super nice (some of them were just down right mean), I’m just always happy to start a discussion! Thanks for stopping by and hopefully you stick around because as regular readers know, there is always drama going down on Mike’s Bloggity Blog.

So that’s it. Two Strangers and a Wedding is done like dinner.

So…..umm….now what do we talk about?

Alexis and Beth from CTV
Freeway and Meg from the Freeway and Meg Morning Show. Natch.

They got married!!

>
First off, I’m sorry if you thought the title of this blog post implied that the Two Strangers and A Wedding actually did happen….cause it didn’t. I already covered that. Jeez.

The wedding I’m talking about is Canadian Idol Host and general pain in my side* Ben Mulroney. Yup, he too decided to get married on Thursday to fashion designer Jessica Brownstein in Montreal.

While the wedding went off without a hitch, there is no word if Ben Mulroney gave an awkward sounding speech and make confusing jokes, after all it’s what he does best.

Congrats Ben!

*In this case, “pain in my side” refers to my often debilitating jealously towards Ben’s jobs and hair.

He's back……

This will hopefully be the last we hear about Forever Groom who will probably go the way of similar class acts like Alex Michelle (the original bachelor) and Evan Marriott (Joe Millionaire.)

(Sadly enough, I didn’t have to look up their names)

Anyway, The Calgary Herald just posted their pics and the story of the events of the day and their picture of Forever Groom is almost too much to handle.

I’m not going to be mean, but I’m just going to say that it looks like the bride and the real groom weren’t the only ones losing sleep over the impending nuptials! Those bags could have saved New Orleans!

And thanks for the comments and thoughts about Two Strangers and A Wedding and you guys have brought up a good point. If Forever Groom is such a close and personal friend, why did he leave right after the ceremony. Shouldn’t a close, important friend stay until the event was almost over? Or at least wait until they served the cupcakes. Those were damn good cupcakes.

What do you think? Mission accomplished for FG? Did Monday Groom…err Jeff ever stand a chance?

A REAL picture of Forever Groom!

>This is a side profile of him, but you can still see his grimace and remorse of letting her go.

I still think my pic is more accurate!

Celebrity Encounter

>
I just ran into gold medalist olympian Kyle Shewfelt!

Apparantly this was an event he simply could not miss!
And get this, he has a blog too!
Which obviously means, I am just like an Olympian. My mom would be so proud!

The First Kiss

>So the inevitable JUST happened. After some toasts the the glasses started tickering which everyone knows the bride and groom are supposed to kiss.

They went in for the kiss and then she back off. The crowd seemed a wee bit disappointed and then they went in for a fake side-cheek kiss.

Then again on stage they went to kiss again and she said she doesn’t kiss on the first date and did the weird side-cheek kiss thing again.

Here’s hoping she lays one on her soon.

Picture of Forever Groom!

>So Forever Groom was at the wedding and yes, he was invited by the bride! Did anyone see How I Met Your Mother last week? You know the one where Stella well left Ted at the alter for her ex?
Anyway.

So I couldn’t get a picture, trust me you wouldn’t want one.

But if I had to give you guys an idea….it’s probably like this. Only with cheesy blond highlights.UPDATE: Apparently Forever Groom left right after the ceremony. Chicken shit. Is that rude? What do you think?

Mike vs. The Bride

>
The following actual dialog that happened on the stage with cameras and recorders happening.

Me: Congrats on everything!
Kimberly: Thanks!
Me: yeah, so your exboyfriend isn’t a big fan of me.
Kimberly: What? Why?
Me:Oh, I may or may not have said some bad things about him online
Kimberly: Really? Like what?
Me: Well, let’s just say I was team You.
Kimberly: Well, if you were really team Me, that means you have to be nice to the people I care about.
Me: Um….so can I have a picture.

She is still super nice though and so pretty. She won’t be single for long, let’s just hope that Forever Groom keeps his distance.
