Apples error

>Now, I know I don’t have an English degree (I actually have one in Spanish), and I know I always get criticized for my lack of proof reading and common grammatical errors.  But I’m just a small-time blogger.  Can you imagine how embarrasing it would be if I was one of the world’s largest and influential companies and my brand new marketing campaign had a mistake so big that even I noticed it!

How awkward would that be…..

Funnest? Yikes.
On a semi-related note, I just found out that Calgary is FINALLY getting it’s first real Apple store this Saturday in Market Mall, which just happens to be a 2 minute drive from my work.  And with my mom coming out for a visit the very day before, me thinks that Christmas may come a little bit early this year!

Heroes is back, but do you care?

>
So I had grand ambitions to write a review of the new season premiere of Heroes. The one problem? I had not idea what the hell it was about? I mean it was great to see that show that we hadn’t seen since last December but pretty much everyone we thought was dead came back, or did they? Honestly, I’m so perplexed. I think I will have to take couple of days to think about it and get back to you.

But did all you Veronica Mars fans notice the split-second mini cast reunion? It was a blink and you missed it moment but it was nearly perfection.

Kristen Bell (Elle) obviously played Veronica Mars and Francis Capra played the prisoner Jesse Murphy, who was saying he was the real Peter Petrelli. Capra of course played Veronica Mar’s go-to leader of the PCHers Weevil. The two were reunited for but a split second after she went kaboom…..but like everyone else, did not die. Like I said, it was perfection.

What did you think of the premiere? Do you think the show is back on track? How many more powers do you think they can come up with? Did you see that guy that has the power of “sound manipulation”? Is that the lamest power ever? Why is Mrs. Petrelli such a whore? So many questions!

Talk Show Idol is finally here!

>So the big day is finally here. Tonight, I will be participating in the second Semi-final round of AM 770′s Talk Show Idol and, while I don’t to it too often, I am FREAKING nervous. Like really really nervous. I guess it’s a good thing to be nervous, it means that you really want to do a great job, which I obviously do.

But it’s sort of annoying cause there is so much a want to talk about and but my brain just can’t focus on another thing besides what I am working on for the competition tonight.

But, if I wasn’t in a nervous state of cold sweats I would want to talk about the following things:
-Now that 30 Rock has won Best Comedy, Best writing, Best Actress and Best Actor will you now PLEASE watch it when it returns in October?
-The real TV season finally starts tonight. Shows returning include a 2 hours Heroes episode and the fourth season premiere of How I Met Your Mother!
-I just discovered Death Cab For Cutie and am much better for it.
-I was at a conference this weekend and as a challenge to myself I ended up putting my hand on a loaded mousetrap. It was terrifying and thrilling at the same time. It only got more exciting when the next exercise was to close your eyes and trust your friend to tell you how to put your hand down. I don’t think I am really explaining it well, but it was awesome!
-SNL was pretty awful this weekend but Anna Faris is hosting it next weekend and I am already anticipating a great show!
-I packed up my life and moved to Alberta from New Brunswick three years ago on Sunday. Wow, I’ll have to think about that.

Okay, I have to get back to getting ready for tonight.
Don’t forget that no matter where you are you can listen live online! The competition starts at 6pm in Calgary (5pm in Vancouver, 8pm in Toronto, 9pm in the Maritimes).

Wish me luck!

Who is he talking about?

>At tonight’s Emmy’s Alec Baldwin called Tina Fey this generation’s Elaine May.

This is Elaine May

Funky Friday 19

>Happy Friday!

It was a great week for weather here in Calgary and by looks of it not so much on the east coast! But they are a tough bunch and I’m sure they can handle it!

It’s been an insane week and I only have a couple of more days until Talk Show Idol 2! I’ve honestly got no idea what I’m going to be talk about yet, luckily I have the whole weekend to come up with something. If you have any ideas, I’m all ears!

I really love today’s Funky Friday song, it’s a great song by a band that I’ve alway really enjoyed so far. There is no official video for the single yet, so a fan one will have to do!

I hope you all have an amazing weekend. And thanks again for all your support with Talk Show Idol 2, the Facebook group already has nearly 200 people! We got this thing in the bag you guys!

Drive safe and have fun!

So what do you think? Did you notice that pattern there?

The worst story ever told!

>They always say that Hollywood has run out of ideas, but this one takes the take.

Just a little while ago, I watched some trailers for two new movies coming up: Adam Sandler’s Bedtime Stories (Dec. 25) and Brandan Fraser’s Inkheart (Jan.7) and noticed something really really perculiar.

Watch them below and see if you tell me what strikes me as strange, you should be able to figure it out in the first 15 seconds…..

Not only is the idea of the story not even close to being original, they are now double re-producing the same story.

Hire me already Hollywood, I got some ideas that will knock your socks off.

question to ponder: do they wear socks in Hollywood? If not, what else can you knock off?

Excuse me?

>I’m confused to how this is actually “great news”

In Defense of 90210

>
I need to get something off my chest.

So we’ve seen three episodes of the new show 90210 and people hate it. Actually, people hate it and say it pales in comparison to the orignal, including Energy 101.5′s Meg Tucker who thinks it will be canceled in six weeks.

However, I would politely disagree, especially with the comparison comment. Can we call take moment to reflect on the original Beverly Hills 90210? It sucked, it sucked a lot. It sucked so much that Melrose Place spun-off of it! And you know what sucked slightly more than 90210? Melrose Place. The only reason we think that the original was good is because it was such a culturally important part of our child/adult hood (depending on your parent’s morals). But at the end of the day, 90210 always sucked.

I mean honestly, Shannon Doherty, Jason Priestly, Jenny Garth, Luke Perry and the rest of the gang were the epitome of god-awful actors. They make Jessica Simpson seem like Jessica Tandy. But this was over 10 years ago, so it’s okay if you forget, but I challenge you to make it through an old episode that is currently repeating on TVtropolis. You can’t, you won’t, you shouldn’t. The script was awful, the stories were recycled and even when they tried to do shows on important “issues”, the characters had quickly moved on from their life lessons the very next episode. And when ever you feel like talking about the huge hole in Tori Spelling’s chest cavity, I’ve got some theories.

The new 90210 isn’t an amazing show. It’s no Lost or Brothers & Sisters, it’s not even a Gossip Girl. But it’s a show about rich teenagers in Beverly Hills, what are you expecting people? It’s an okay show, there are some funny moments and some interesting characters. But come on people give it a break and enjoy the ride. Plus if anything else, it’s only a matter of time and Andrea Zuckerman returns to a crowd of people who struggled to remember that she was even on the air.

Finally, my chance to be an Idol

>

As many of you know, I have always wanted to be “Idol”ized. But since I can neither sing or dance, my options have been limited to paying people to worship my every move.

Luckily for my bank account AM 770, a talk radio station in Calgary, has started their second season of Talk Show Idol and after a rigorous round of interviews (think Wipeout meets The Exorcist), I am so pumped to finally announce that I am one of the Final 12 finalists!

My semi-final round will be airing live on AM 770 at 6pm Calgary time (5pm in Vancouver, 8pm in Toronto, 9pm in the Maritimes) on September 22nd (this Monday!). Immediately afterward and for 5 days after I would love if you guys all voted! Even if you can’t find yourself close to a radio or computer than don’t worry, they post all the pieces immediately after the show finishes airing!

As always, I’m so grateful to have such amazing and supportive friends and readers and I thank you so much in advance of me taking the Idol crown!

I created a Facebook group today for it and it already has over 100 members. Feel free to join as I will be sending out reminders about the showtimes and voting information!
