Thrusday's alright for watching.

>I had the unfortunate luck of working this past thursday, so I was subjected to watching many of my shows either from my NEW DVD recorder or from the staff cafeteria at the Sheraton. I also had my friend tape “Ugly Betty” for me, so I can’t comment on that just yet.

“The Office”
-This wasn’t my favorite episode, but I really did enjoy it. I love how the writers can so easily make me change my mind about Pam’s love life. Jim, Toby or Roy!
-Creed introducing himself to Meredith was great! (Randomness is this shows best attribute.)
-”Party” in room 308!
-I missed the new Stamford workers

“Survivor”
-Watched this while I was working so I didn’t get to see all of it, but that is one of my favorite immunity challenges. After all the huff about the teams devided by race, it was over after only 7 days. Oh Mark Burnett you are one sly fox.

“Grey’s Anatomy”
-For the love of all that is good Meredith, STOP TAKING THE ELEVATOR! Seriously, if I had an awkward encounter with someone everytime I got in that thing, I’d just stop taking it.
-I loved the scene between Addison and Izzy. Both at their lowest points.
-I’ve started a new I LOVE Callie club, I’m getting a tatoo on my right buttocks, and I’m going to learn that cool dance she was doing.

Did anyone else have favorite moments from last night’s ridiculously busy tv night! Or comments on the war, or the un. Isn’t there something going on with the RCMP and some guy now? Oh who cares! Is Izzie going to go back to Seattle Grace? Will Pam ever talk to Jim? Those are the big questions!

Not in my wildest dreams

>

There are several things in life that i will not put up with. They include: Using public washrooms, paying $50 for a tshirt, watching According to Jim and celebrities “accidentally” putting out home made porn movies.

Today celebrities crossed a line. Ladies and Gentlemen may I present the newest “victim” of a released “home movie”.

I’ll give you a moment………………………

Now keep in mind, I walk to work every morning and every morning under the overpasses of downtown Calgary I pass at least three new piles of vomit. But my stomach could barely handle the thought of this movie being out there. Now I have some more information for you. The movie includes Screech (Dustin Diamond) with not one, but TWO girls. (Take another moment.) Worse yet, the name of this movie which is currently being shopped around is called………Saved by the Smell. ( I struggled to even type it.)
This has pretty much ruined my day.

It's your lucky day.

>So. Here we are. Sept 26. A mere 7 days before the premiere episode of the third season of Veronica Mars. Can’t wait a week you say/I said. Well wait no longer. Please find the ENTIRE first episode of the THIRD season!

No but wait, don’t go any where. For the love of all that is good, please watch it. Its only about 40 minutes, and even if you’ve never seen it before, that doesn’t matter. This show is on a new network, so it does a great job of filling in the blanks for new viewers. Having already watched it, I’ll admite there are some parts that are a little confusing for Veronica Virgins, but you’ll get the main point.

I won’t comment on it too much, so you guy’s will go watch it. But…..I LOVE the new theme song remix. I love that Mac is a fulltime regular now. Wallace’s new roomate, Piz, is great. And there is even a little something for you Battlestar Gallactica fans.

Favorite lines:
“Oh lord no!”
“A saturn, owned by a Mars in Neptune!” “Now move your Uranus, the mercury is rising.”
“Boom goes the dynamite!”

I pride myself on only watching good tv. (Die According to Jim, Die). So I will not steer anyone wrong. Do yourself a favor. Watch Veronica Mars.

Taking a moment

>I live in Calgary. Calgary is a city that, for me, takes itself way to seriously. Today I’m taking time out my day to write about things that have struck me as funny in the last couple of days.

~Last night while working at the Sheraton, a customer accused me of calling him a jew when actually I said Rosemary Au-Jus. ( He was joking…I think.)

~My grandmother and I had a heated discussion about how much we both dislike Ben Mulroney, although my origins of hatred are most likely jealously, I fear hers may be political.(Among friends, Ben’s nikname is Mulroney Huggies. Don’t ask.)

~Aaron Carter is engaged! (What is wrong with the world!)….Oh wait, engagement called off, all is right in the world. Continue on World, crisis avoided. (Has anyone seen the video of the proposal on www.eonline.com . It’s more awkward than me at a gym.)

~My other grandmother told me there were lots of houses available in Fredericton now because everyone is moving into condoms. ( I presume she meant condos.)

~My friend Annie starts her run on the reality golf show The Big Break 6 tonight. I’m optimistic, but I don’t have a good track record of people i know on reality shows. (see= Chris Jericho, Celebrity Duets. Kelly Gleason, Survivor.) I also go on the life network’s website often to see if they are casting for any reality shows that I would be good at. Unfortunately, I’m neither fat or in debt.

I want to keep doing this more often, for if ever my life gets serious (or I do) I can look back and remember the funny things.

Mr. Morrison I presume.

Every now and then you just need to get away. Whether it is to a far off destination or just a quick jaunt from the city. After a stressful week of watching tv and….no, yeah thats all I did, some friends and I decided to take advantage of the hotel discounts I get and take off to the mountains. So my roomate (Rebecca), my friend (Matt) and my cousin (Leslie) took off for the maybe the funnest 24 hours I can remember. We spent our weekend at the Banff Springs Hotel being called by our last names and pretty much getting treated like royalty. We ate extravagant foods, (Pigs hunt Truffles!) got lost in the castle and even watched the Elk play soccer. Although it was a short trip, it was exactly what we all needed! I love part time job discounts.

Our castle was awaiting us!

Desperate Housewives:
Listen to the Rain on the Roof (3.1)

For those of you who wanted to give up on our little floozies of Wisteria Lane, its time to re-consider. The third season premiered this evening and I’m glad to report that Wisteria has washed away any sketchiness left behind by the Applewhites and Paul. Instead creator Marc Cherry has made room for my personal favorite Laurie Metcalf. Does anyone else hate Orson, solely because of Sex and the City? There were a couple of big laughs tonight, of course from Gaby and Linette. Can I suggest something for our beloved Bree? Lavalife. Seriously they can’t be any scarier!

Things overheard on The Amazing Race.

“I don’t like horses, it’s like they have a mind of their own.”
-Kimberley (I have nightmares about their relationship.)

”Did you ever imagine you’d be two legs into the race and first?”
-Host Phil to the One legged contestant!

Grey’s Anatomy
“Time has come today” (3.1)

3 minutes. That’s how long it took me until I was a puddle of tears on my friends couch. I think tonight’s episode continued to demonstrate what makes this show amazing. You never know what to expect. We spent all summer stressing about whom Meredith was going to choose. Turns out, we still don’t know. To these surgeons that’s not what’s important. The show takes us places where we don’t expect it to, like in life, we love the unexpected. We also love when vengeful red heads post her husband’s mistress’ blank panties. Or is that just me?

The Office
“Gay Witch Hunt” (3.1)

In homage of the original British version: This episode was brilliant! What I love about this show is that it doesn’t shove it’s storylines down your throat. It’s all in the subtlety. When Pam looked at Ryan expecting Jim’s mutual disgust, we felt it. Highlights for me: Ed Helms! Meredith licking the Purel! “And he always looks at the camera….what’s with that!” “I watch Queer as F%#$”. And can I just give a quick shout out to Pam being single! Come on Jimmy! When Michael was talking about love, I know he was talking about me and The Office.

Are we there yet?

“Sally” breaks through the Quebec border! (09.21.2005)

Today is a strange day. I was entering some data into my computer and I looked at the calender and I saw the date. Sept 21. Wow. it was exactly 1 year ago today that I left everyone and everything behind and hit the road with one my greatest friends Jessica. When I think back to the days leading up to Sept 21st, I can remember going to the Harvest Jazz and Blues festival and just hanging with my nephew and niece, I guess I didn’t put too much thought into how much my life would change because of one single day.

It was amazing road trip! I wouldn’t want to do it within anyone else besides Jessica. There was laughing and crying, it was an emotional rollercoaster. There were strippers in Thunder Bay, Inookshooks on the side of the highway, scary hotel “suites”, a Caberet with my grandmother. Jessica learned how to drive a standard! We met some amazing people along the way, saw some of the weirdest Canadian monuments and got stuck behind some of the slowest transport trucks. If you’ve ever thought about driving across this amazing country do it. Just don’t do it in a Saturn, strange people will touch your car as your filling your gas. It was awkward.

Since arriving in Calgary it has truly made me a different person. The people, the experiences, the opportunities are priceless. (some of them I guess i would trade for some DVDs, but for the most part!). I’ve had 4 jobs, done 2 plays, camped in the mountains, climbed a couple of them too, and yes even got lost along the way! The past year has truly changed my definition of who I am. I got my very first apartment, began paying bills and facing the world.

There are some nights when I see pictures of home or hear stories that I wonder what it would be like if I had stayed. But most of the time I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I had. I would have missed so much.

So to wrap this anniversary announcement up i would like to thank jessica for ALWAYS pushing me. and for all my friends all over the world, you know how much you all mean to me and who knows when we’ll meet again, but I hope it is real real soon!

My plan of attack

>So the night is finally upon us. Maybe the biggest night TV wise that I can ever remember. OK MAYBE one of the biggest nights EVER! (Sorry, memories of birth and graduation, you can’t compete with Izzie) First things first, the Grey’s Anatomy finale was re-aired last night. Just getting me even more stoked for tonight’s measly 60 minute premiere!

I’ve thought about it and this is my plan of attack.

4:30-Leave the office, go home and do the dishes. (Sorry Rebecca)
5:30-Leave apartment, swing by the 17th Ave Mcdonalds Drive thru for a #1 combo (they know me as the martimer. Sad? Discuss.)
6:00pm Survivor “Racism Rules” Cook Islands (Thanks to the magic of satelite!)
7:00pm: Grey’s Anatomy on big screen and HD. As god intended it.
8:00pm Season premiere of “My name is Earl” and “The Office” (Thanks TIVO!)

I’ve done the math and calculations and that is what works for me.

Happy Thursday!

Hello CW its nice to meet you.

>

Tonight is a huge night for television. This past sunday we said goodbye to the WB and UPN networks. WB? UPN? you say. For Canadians with just regular cable alot of us have never been subjected to the extreme displeasure that came from these two teeny tiny networks. Instead canadian networks would pick what good shows they could find put them on their very own networks.

Well tonight a whole new era begins with the WB and UPN merging and it begins airing it’s first hours of original programming on the new CW network. (Crap (in) Waiting network? Crusty Writing network?) I’m not too sure what its stands for but I’m sure you could look it up on wikipedia.

With just a few hours before the premiere of America’s Next Top Model on the CW, I thought I would take the time to remember some of my favorite shows from the two deceased networks.

Oh and lets count them down, just to add a little excitement.

5. Dawson’s Creek (the WB) This show pretty much defined my high school years. Things to note: I speak three languages, and I had/have no IDEA what these kids were saying. Also, I loved that when I graduated university these “kids” we just turning “18″. General rule of thumb, if you’ve slept with every single one of your friends and a member of your school’s faculty before 18… You should get a test of some sort done. I don’t know what kind of test, but one that cleans your entire body inside and out!

4.Felicity (WB). This show was kinda lost on us Canadians, because after the first season CTV only played it in the summer time (ala Veronica Mars). Which was such a waste of this super interesting college drama, from the guy who created LOST and ALIAS (who knew?). Although I’ve never seen the entire series (damn you Ebayers) I look forward to catching up on saturday mornings on the W network.

3. Angel. (WB) This show for me only existed for two years. Seasons 4 and 5. The others I watched because it was a Buffy spinoff, but basically I ignore them like I ignore the Shampoo and Conditioner aisle in a grocery store. The final two seasons were essentially non-stop excitement, surprises and puppets. (Watch season 5, you’ll see!)

2.Veronica Mars.(UPN) This show drives me nuts. I think I should get paid from creator Rob Thomas for pretty much going as far as selling my body to get people to watch this show. Just the other day someone was talking to me about the elections and every question I answered with “Veronica Mars.” The person eventually just walked away. This is a smart and exciting show and I simply cannot wait until Oct. 3. If you haven’t watched this show, please realize that Kevin Smith, Stephen King and Joss Whedon all agree that it is the best show on TV. Who knew that besides the obvious, Kevin, Stephen, Joss and I all have something in common. ( I’ll leave that up to interpretation.)

1.Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (The WB/UPN) This is obvious. We are in love. Buffy and I met in ’97, on a rainy Saturday afternoon. And although we’ve kept our showmance on the D.L. I know its there. Buffy is one of the few shows that had such a profound effect on my life that it’s dialogue routinely became apart of my vocabulary. I used to ask for Monday nights off just so I would have the night off to prepare. ( I won’t lie, I did the same for this Thursday’s premiere of Grey’s Anatomy. Open for mockage later.) I made my new roomate watch the two hour premiere episode of buffy this weekend, and although it wasn’t instant love for them, there was definatly a little bit of a crush. Fav. episode: The Wish.

Reason’s why the WB and UPN should burn in hell: 7th Heaven, One Tree Hill, Clueless, South Beach, Charmed.

So as the CW prepares itself to take on the other big four networks (NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX) let’s all do our best to welcome the new network and make them feel right at home. That is as long as they promise to keep Loni Anderson unemployed.

***little known fact*** UPN passed on American Idol before Fox picked it up….awkward…
