M.O.T.D (weekend edition)

>Friday Aug. 25: Driving up and down Chantal’s “mountain”
Saturday Aug.26: Watching Gilmore Girls and Felicity while eating Froot Loops
Sunday Aug 27th. Helping Dr. Khan go to the washroom (close second: My new apartment!)

Brad: there is no rule for what time of night you post. but that doesn’t make it any less sad.
Joanna: Whatever game you are playing with Brad, I want in!

The countdown is…well counting down. Obviously

>What a weekend! Yesterday I moved into my dream apartment. I love it. It is at least twice the size of the one I just moved out of, and the good news is, is it now available for the filming of Saw IV. So not only do I benefit from being a great apartment (pictures to follow) the film industry also benefits from cutting down on building expensive sets.

Speaking of Hollywood, it is just a matter of hours before I hit the LAX tarmack. I still don’t think I understand that in a couple of hours I will be flying by the Hollywood sign. It is almost incomprehensible to me, being a small guy from a small town in a small province. Tomorrow I will attending the first live taping of the series premiere of “Celebrity Duets.” I also can’t believe that. All around town on the busses and C-Trains they have signs that say “Simon (Cowell) says: Watch Celebrity Duets!” (he is producing it!). And everytime i see the signs, I ALWAYS say (sometimes aloud) I will…..LIVE! Yesterday I got the speech from my friend Chad (whose cousin is WWE champion Chris Jericho, who is singing in the show) about being around celebrities. I guess there is code of conduct, since I am Chris’ guest. People who are with celebrities who act crazy/fanatic around other celebrities are apparantly called a “Mark”. No one wants to be a Mark. Also pictures are…OK…autographs are not. (plan still set in motion Colin).

Celebrities I am most excited about meeting with my back stage pass.

Leah Thompson (I think we would be friends)
Chris Jericho (I hope he doesn’t crush my….entire existence)
Simon Cowell (Can you F%^$%^ believe it! No words)

So what does one say to celebrities to not come off as a “mark” I have NO idea! Suggestions anyone?

Other than that I am looking forward to my three days in L.A. I know that I won’t be able to do all that i want to do. But this is a short trip, I will be back.

SIDE NOTE: If you don’t trust my opinion about veronica mars, you must recognize that two of my suggested favorite shows won at last night’s Emmys. Best Drama (24) Best Comedy (The Office). Is that the sound of recognizing i hear?!?

Moment of the Day

>In my 4th ( unfortunatly not final year of University), I came up with an idea. I sometimes felt that I didn’t appreciate life’s little things. So I came up with “The Moment of the Day”. At first it was verbal. I would say ” Oh that is a total moment of the day!” But I would never remember them. So I began to write them down in just a little scribbler. Which I have since left in Fredericton, when I made the move across the country. Since being out here, I seem to have been faced with challenge after challenge. Not epic challenges, just ones that are part of growing up. So I have been thinking more and more about the moment of the day. And today, I have decided to re-hash the idea, but instead make it interactive. Share with you all (ie. Brad) What has been going on all around me.

What classifies the moment of the day?: A hilarious moment, an awkward moment, a great moment (see:momentous). A life changing moment. A sad moment. (Try to limit the sad moments, but if they are real, they are your moments.

Rules: You can say that something is a MOTD, but you can certainly change you mind. But by the end of the day, you can only have one! Write it down or post it!

I guess Oprah did something like this a couple of years ago, but this is far less preachy. Moments of the day (MOTD) are meant to be just, a quick jolt!

Feel free to put your own moment of the day in the comments. When I go home next, I’ll grab that book and post my old comments.

By the way you “Grey’s” and “Veronica”. My friend Anne sent me two sexy (see:great) links.
They are online radio stations that only play music from my favorites two shows soundtracks.

>I’m an educated guy. Literally, I have a degree in education. And Spanish for that matter. I like to think that I am also a considerate person. I love having people in my life. I like to talking to them, whether it be on the phone, in person or instant messenger. But I also have another love in my life. One that for the longest time I have felt guilty about, but I am no longer going to hide. I love T.V. Everything about it. I love the shows, the ratings, the actors. The entire industry.

But you might be asking yourself, why! You live in a booming city, with lots going on and that should be enough. But its not. I’m not saying I go home every night and stare at the TV ’till I go to bed. But I have my shows, and I’m not ashamed about it. Some people go out every night and get smashed and do heavy drugs, I don’t. I watch TV. My argument is that TV is always so much cheaper then a pint of JD, and I remember most of everything I watched the night before.

I think when I started watching TV when I was a kid, I watched because I wasn’t that “cool” or “popular” I was always ok staying home on a Friday night to watch Boy Meets World, Step by Step and Family Matters. I would watch those shows, and expect the usual calls from girls playing “Girl Talk”. As I grew up, I felt a loyalty to television. It had always been there for me, so I felt I should return the favor, through the good (Buffy…) the bad ( ) and the ugly (According to Jim…..seriously!?!).Now that I’ve become a corporate drone and I’m feeling more and more grown up everyday and I’m feeling comfortable in my own skin. I feel like I should no longer have to denounce my favorite things. For example: I love the month of May. Not because it is my birthday month, but because that is when all the networks announce their new fall schedules. You should know that I know what days these networks will be doing this each day, and feverously hit the reload button until I can get my fix. I love knowing which pilots have been picked up, which shows have been cancelled and which shows will be going against each other in their respective timeslots. (Look out CSI, Meredith Grey is coming after you!)

While I’m of the topic of fall shows, these are the ones I’m excited for you to watch with me!1. Veronica Mars. Veronica Mars? You say. Well yes, I said veronica mars, I’ll go out there and say I like it better then Buffy. That’s right I said. What are you going to do about it? Watch it! Rent it on DVD, Buy it even, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

2. The Office. I LOVE the British version; I STILL have to turn it off sometimes because it is sooooo awkward. But the American version is slowly creeping up there! Its really really a great show! Entertaining and sweet! Watch it!

3. Grey’s Anatomy. Season finale. Code Black. Sandra Oh. ‘Nuff said.

4. 24. Even if I wasn’t bald, this STRESSFUL show would have made me pull out my hair. I still miss Edgar. But I’ll always have Chloe. So those are my favorites.

If you don’t watch one or all of them, its weird that I’m even your friend. If you’ve never watched one, seriously put down the shot of tequilla and watch one! They’re just as addictive. Are you secretly obsessed with TV, or think you might want to be. Check out my favorite daily sites:
